Chapter 8 Stay Or Leave After Mission Complete
- "About your idea of switching positions. I'm sorry, I can't," Marvin said. "I made a deal with Stella from the beginning. So the woman I'm going to marry is her, not you, and that's inviolable."
- Mia pursed her lips. She really wished she could switch positions so that she could marry Marvin, who was a perfect man.
- "Besides, you made that mistake knowingly, didn't you? You already knew Damian wasn't a good person but still made the deal. As for Stella, she did make a mistake, but she didn't know that Damian was a bad person. If she had known he was a jerk, she wouldn't have fallen for him."
- Stella who heard Marvin defending her, smiled. Mia now looked very upset.
- "Okay! So what about me, what's the solution? I don't want to marry Damian either. Give me a solution," Mia said.
- "What do I have to gain by helping you, hm?" asked Marvin. "I made the deal with your sister because it had a mutually beneficial goal and mission, and I think you'll enjoy it later too. So if I help you now, what do I get?"
- Mia and Stella exchanged glances, then looked back at Marvin.
- "But I need your help, sir. There's no way I'm letting my sister marry a jerk like Damian," Stella said.
- "If your sister hadn't signed the contract, I would've been able to help you guys. The problem is that she has already signed the contract. That would be very difficult. Damian could demand a lot to cancel the contract. Canceling a signed contract isn't that easy."
- Mia and Stella didn't answer because what Marvin said was also true.
- "I'm sorry. I can't help because your deal has already been signed," Marvin said.
- Mia pursed her lips even more, annoyed.
- "But... earlier you said your purpose in marrying him was because you wanted to be an enemy in disguise, right? Then just do it for me," Marvin looked back at Mia again.
- "What does that mean, sir?" asked Mia.
- "Be a spy in that house for me. Give me any information you get when you live there so we will know his movements and maybe even what plans Damian has prepared. And again, I'm pretty sure Damian must have a purpose."
- Mia and Stella looked at Marvin seriously and listened to the words that came from his lips.
- "You said Damian had wanted to make a deal with you, right?" Marvin asked Stella.
- Stella nodded. "Yes, the day when I went to see him, he offered me a deal."
- "Then he didn't give up, he went to Mia and made the same deal with her. He insisted on making a deal with you guys. He must have a mission with you too. He must have a plan, not just to make one of you his wife," Marvin said.
- "I was thinking that too, sir. He didn't give up wanting to make a deal, obviously he must have a purpose." Stella said.
- "That's fine, just go ahead with the deal with Damian," Marvin said again.
- "So what will I get out of the deal?" asked Mia. "The benefit of your deal is that my sister will get back the rights that Damian took away. Obviously, the twenty-five percent share will be useless because it will be mine anyway. So what do I get if the deal between me and Damian continues? I went through with the deal to be your spy, right? I should benefit from you too, sir."
- Marvin thought for a while. "You can ask for whatever you want."
- "Anything?" asked Mia.
- "Yes... anything."
- "Are you sure, sir?"
- "Of course I'm sure," replied Marvin.
- "Okay, deal!" Mia extended her hand to Marvin.
- Marvin shook Mia's hand. "Deal! So what do you want?"
- "I won't say it now. I'll think about it first. When I know what I want, I'll let you know."
- "Okay," Marvin replied. "Now that's settled, isn't it? The matter of the deal with Damian?"
- Mia nodded, and Stella nodded hesitantly as well.
- "Now let's discuss our deal," Marvin said, looking at Stella.
- Stella nodded again. Marvin opened his desk drawer and took out a dark blue folder, handing it to Stella. "This is our agreement. Read it and sign it."
- Stella opened the folder and read the papers inside. "I must obey everything you say and not argue?"
- Stella looked at Marvin as she read one of the clauses.
- "Yes! I'm the type of person who doesn't like to be argued with, so when I say something, you have to follow it. Because what I say, I've thought it through and it can't be wrong."
- "Okay, whatever you say," Stella said, then continued reading. Her eyebrows knitted together as she re-read the contents of the agreement, then looked at Marvin again. "It says here, after the mission and objectives are accomplished, and everything is finished, I'm allowed to choose between staying or leaving. What does that mean?"
- "Yesterday you asked for a condition that the marriage should be done without the frills of a contract, didn't you?"
- Stella nodded doubtfully. Mia turned her gaze in another direction and smirked.
- "Don't want a contract marriage? Just say that you want to be his wife legally and you want to have him completely!" Mia thought.
- "Once the mission is successful, that means everything is done. You'll get your property back, including the house. After that, you get to choose where you want to live, go back to your house or stay with me. More specifically, divorce me and leave, or stay in my house and become my wife. I will not divorce you even after the mission is successful."
- "Won't divorce me? So what if you want to marry the woman of your choice later? Will you divorce me and give me alimony?"
- "Huh! I never intended to get married at all, probably never because I'll never fall for a woman again."
- "Hm?"
