Chapter 32 Caged Again
- (POV: Isabela)
- Where…? My eyes cracked open to dim, dusty stripes of light. The boards under me were hard, my body cramped and sore. I'd used my backpack as a pillow again. Ugh. It took a groggy moment before the place registered – the abandoned safe house. Then the smells grounded me: old wood, thick dust, and under it all, the faint, salty promise of the sea.
- Then it rushed back – the escape. The secret planning with Rena, Camila’s terrified face giving me the cash and phone, the heart-stopping race through the dark estate grounds, the silent driver, the arrival at this lonely, broken-down shack.
