Chapter 6 Farewells Are Necessary To Meet Again

  • Approaching Lyra's house, Adrian once again caught the scent that had lured him into the dark alley in Brumewicke. He remembered the first time he saw Lyra. It had been a difficult day, traveling on horseback for over a day. He needed rest and quiet. So, he chose the first quiet tavern with an inn and, in the evening, picked a table in the far corner, ordered soup and a hot meal, and chewed on the meat hungrily.
  • When dinner was almost over, the tavern doors loudly burst open, warning of unwelcome guests. Five orcs shouted to the owner, "We'll have the usual," and pawed at the girls crudely. Meanwhile, the leader, who had spotted a girl with chocolate-colored hair sitting alone in the center of the room, headed straight for her. He sat beside her, pulled her close by the waist, and breathed his alcohol-laden breath into her face, loudly declaring to his comrades, "Looks like I've found my princess." The girl, like a rag doll, trembled in his embrace. "Dear, you're in for an unforgettable night tonight," he said. The girl wriggled out of his bear hug, stepped back, and said something softly.
  • Adrian did not hear what she said, as he was sitting far away. But obviously, the orc did not like the words she said, as he angrily shouted and rushed towards the girl, but she dodged him. Misjudging his momentum, the orc stumbled on the uneven floor and crashed into the inn's support beam with all his might. A cracking sound was heard, and an unconscious body was visible on the ground.
