Chapter 5 Lynn Gave Her Away
- NYX
- I sat in my room, sprawled on the bed Lynn had just lain on, his fresh and clean scent wafted into my nose, making me curl up under the sheets. If he was not such an asshole, just if he was not blind to see how much love I had to give to him.
- His relationship with Sienna was long overdue, after all, his parents were even against their damned association. She had come in the way of his goals, games he had to be in just because she threw a tantrum.
- And my heart would always break when I saw him running back to her.
- I would be left to clean up his mess, make excuses for him, and even lie that he had been a bit injured sometimes.
- But he dared to call me cheap just because he had seen me with his uncle? However, I couldn't blame him. He probably thought I had done something with him, which appeared to be so.
- Maybe I was too irrational and quick to anger, by pushing him away. I should at least offer him some explanation so he wouldn't continue to misunderstand.
- Right now, he would be out there, trying to hide away from our mates who were looking all over for us while Sienna had thrown him out.
- I got up, dressed up quickly, and made sure to unpack my bag. But as I grabbed my phone, it buzzed and I quickly checked the new message, hoping it was Lynn who had reflected on his blatant insult and decided to come back.
- However, it wasn't him.
- Hera: “Where are you? Mom is going hysterical since you never told her you would be gone for the weekend.”
- I took a deep breath, however, it was shaky as a knot tightened in my chest. I clutched my phone, stepping out of the room without a reply to that message. Again, I wasn't going to be an underappreciated cleanup maid this time.
- I wanted to be free this weekend and explore with Lynn but Sienna’s presence had broken that. And now this?
- I quickly put a call across to Lynn, however, it kept going straight to voicemail. My heart clenched when I realized he may have been caught by the others and they were already torturing him to their satisfaction. I texted him, telling him where I was and that I needed to see him immediately but there was no reply.
- My feet thudded down the hallway, straight to the reception and my phone continued to buzz but then, Lynn was nowhere in sight.
- The next second, a hand touched my shoulder and my head spun to the side to see a few of our friends gathered around me.
- Shit! They found me.
- “I told you! Nyx is going to be the easy target!” They gloated.
- “Nah, we only got her because Lynn chose to disclose her whereabouts.”
- “What?” My lips parted. “Lynn told you where I was?”
- “Yes.” They laughed. “He decided to save his ass. He begged that Sienna wants him right now and agreed to disclose your location.”
- “You have no choice but to come with us, Nyx.” They advanced toward me, with wild eyes thirsting for adventure I totally wasn't ready for.
- “I think, you all should calm down…” I said, my voice shaky. My eyes scoured the group, three boys and two girls who would probably dunk me in a shitload of water even if I was scared.
- The girls who were mostly annoyed with me for having a chance to be by Lynn’s side were going to take out their frustration on me.
- “Why? You agreed to this, Nyx.” They hissed. “Don’t spoil the fun.”
- “That’s how she is. Such a bummer.” One of the girls hissed. “But not this time. Lynn willingly gave you to us and we won’t let you off the hook.”
- “Shit!” I cursed, my brows creased and my teeth biting on the inside of my mouth. My phone kept buzzing nonstop, Hera still trying to reach me, a bunch of predators ready to pounce on me while my so-called best friend had pushed me into a trap.
- My life felt like a shit-load of troubles.
- “Can we do this some other time?” I asked.
- “No—”
- “Yes, she can.”
- A voice, deep and commanding bounced off the walls of the almost empty reception. The same man I had seen in the wrong room, Lynn’s uncle walked closer to us.
- He walked past them and came to stand right in my face. His unclad chest from earlier now lay underneath a crisp white shirt and perfectly tailored pants, with the sleeves rolled up, showing off his arms.
- “What…what are you doing?” My eyes blinked, body freezing over.
- “Let’s go. You have an appointment to keep up with.” He said, like he was some manager here to get his trainee away.
- “Excuse me, who are you?” One of the girls, Cassie stepped forward. Her eyes were darting from me to this man. “Are you really here for Nyx?”
- I pursed my lips, a sharp sting in my chest when I saw her eyes dripping with scorn.
- “Am I here for you then?” The man raised his brows, his nose scrunched.
- “What?” Cassie gasped, her chest heaving. She couldn't stand the blatant disregard, and her mouth wouldn't close. “You are hot and I am just trying to save you from the trouble of being disappointed. After all, the only guy she ever clung onto is Lynn who doesn't even want her!”
- My face burned, and my fists clenched. I opened my mouth, ready to snap but he beat me to it.
- “Does Lynn want you?” His tongue was sharp, and he delivered such a blow with his face cold without an ounce of emotion.
- Cassie stepped back, her mouth fluttering open and closed. I couldn't help my surprise either as my mouth was gaping open.
- “I think we should leave.” He clutched my arm, dragging me away from the speechless friends straight out of the reception.
- This man I didn't want to see again, had just saved my ass.
