Chapter 7 A Trainer For Her

  • SCARLET’S POV
  • I stared at my father with worries written all over my face. Why would he ask to see me in his chambers? He had never asked to see me before and I have never entered his chambers. Today is the first time I would be stepping feet into his chambers and it made me uneasy.
  • When I entered I was visibly trembling and even now, my feet cannot carry me as I looked at the strange man that was standing a few meters away from me.
  • When the omega came to inform me of my father’s request, I had thought that he was mistaken and that the message was meant for my sister, Dawn, instead. And even when I got close to the door of the chambers I had hesitated to come in. I remain at the door until I was sure that my father had noticed my presence and did not react negatively to it.
  • He hasn’t said anything to me since I arrived and even when I greeted him he only mumbled some inaudible words which I took as a reply to my greeting. It was not as if I had any choice because he could answer me in whatsoever way he deemed fit and if he chose not to answer, I still have to accept his silence as an appropriate reply.
  • I was beginning to wonder why he had called for me. I also wonder why he refused to say anything to me but had chosen to ignore my presence and act like I don’t exist.
  • I could see that he was deep in thoughts. Was he going to finally throw me out of his household? Oh no, it better not be that. Then where would I go from here, who was going to accept me the way I was?
  • “Please, Sir Tim, don’t throw me away, I have nowhere to go from here. I promise that I will do everything that you ask of me from now on. I will keep to the rules and make sure I respect everyone. Please let me stay here, I know nowhere else. Please, Sir Tim, please” I knelt at his feet and wept.
  • He pulled my hands away from his body and stood up. I was wondering what he wanted to do to me now but he held me by the hands and lifted me up.
  • “Throw you away? And who is talking about throwing you away?” he asked.
  • I became confused. Why was he been nice to me? This was strange. Something was not right somewhere.
  • The strange man standing a few steps away was giggling as the whole thing looked amusing to him.
  • It was at this time that I was able to access the man. He was young and physically built. He was what every lady would call an attraction and I could tell that he must be spending a greater time of his day on bodybuilding.
  • “And who is he?” I asked referring to the strange man.
  • But what was he doing here? Or maybe… oh my goodness… is he the mate that brother Sam had told me about? But why would they want to give me out to such a huge fellow? I am not going to accept this. Someone like this can even end my life with the tips of his finger.
  • If I am forced to accept this man, then I would make them know that this is murder and that it was better for them to put a knife across my throat and take my life peacefully.
  • “Oh… he?” my father responded.
  • Was that a grin that I just saw on his face just now? Please dear moon goodness, this better be good. I murmured to myself.
  • “I don’t know him” I murmured.
  • My father chuckled and then said. “Rich here would be your new trainer”
  • His words hit me like a time bomb. “A trainer?” I murmured.
  • But what would I need a trainer for? I am feeble and could barely do any meaningful thing for myself. Won’t this trainer soon get tired of me and resign from this frustrating job.
  • And then he looked so fierce but handsome. Would he be willing to spend even a second with a simpleton like me? He looked like someone that would go for classy and girls of high social standing. He doesn’t appear like a man that would want to spend even an extra second with me.
  • “Hey, Scarlet, I have heard a lot about you,” Rich said.
  • His voice was deep and it sounded amazing but I would look into that later on as it was the least of my problem at the moment.
  • “But then I don’t need a trainer” I retorted softly.
  • “You know what, Scarlet, after I heard that you tried to defend yourself against Gina, God that girl is a whole lot. I figured that you need to develop yourself against future attackers and that is why I employed Rich. You see, he is the best in the job and I am positive he would be able to handle you” my father replied.
  • “Thank you very much, sir, I will do my best and will make sure I meet your expectations,” Rich said.
  • “I have no doubts in you, Rich. I already told you all about her and I believe you know what to do” my father said to Rich.
  • “I do, sir, I do” Rich responded.
  • “But why is no one listening to me, I can barely throw a punch at even a fly” I protested.
  • I cannot understand what had gotten into my father to make him come up with such a decision. What am I supposed to be doing with Rich? Even my wolf would run away at the sight of Rich. Now how am I supposed to cope with this?
  • “You can do this, Scarlet. Remember you said you are going to live up to our expectations. So, why not start now? It is not going to happen in a day. Of course, no one expects magic to happen. You would have to go slow and steady but know it that you must learn. I want to see some improvements if you don’t want to get yourself and Rich in trouble” he warned.
  • Now, this is not a privilege. It is a task which I have to complete. It is a punishment but a different kind of punishment. My failure would be visited on the strange man, Rich and I hate it when others have to pain the price of my deficiency.
  • “I assure you that I would do my very best, sir, and I would see to it that there are positive results. Scarlet here appears to me as someone that is teachable and willing to learn. So neither of us would disappoint you” Rich assured my father.
  • But who asked him to, who was he to make a pledge on my behalf? Obviously, he knows nothing about me because if he does he would not want to vouch for me no matter the circumstances.
  • “I am glad we understand each other” my father kept a straight face.
  • My father looked at me to get my assurance too, but I lowered my face instead. He walked away leaving me and Rich alone in the room.
