Chapter 8 You Owe The Lu Family

  • Lu Jiayi went into the master bedroom and took out a few luxury watches belonging to Lu Xiuran and stuffed them into the folder she found in the closet. She was about to leave when she saw the little blue box in the corner.
  • The present she wanted to buy for Liang cost a huge fortune. Even after selling the luxury watches, she wouldn't be able to pay for it. The blue box seemed luxurious. Perhaps something valuable was inside.
  • Gu Annuan was the most famous socialite in Jin City. She only wore and used the best. There must be something valuable in this box.
  • Even though Lu Jiayi was mentally prepared, she was stunned by the slightly worn watch in the box.
  • The “Trossi Leggenda” from Patek Philippe was a unique wristwatch. At first glance, it might seem ordinary, but the sparkles inside were reflected by the skillfully hidden sapphires. There was no official price, however, it could be easily sold in the black market for ten million or so.
  • “Wow, Gu Annuan! You kept this treasure but wouldn't sell it. Instead, you used our family's money to repay your family's debts. Don't blame me for being cruel. This is what you owe us!” Lu Jiayi took the box and the folder earlier without hesitation and left the master bedroom.
  • Jiang Yadan had just returned from her walk when she bumped into Lu Jiayi who ran down the staircase.
  • “It's late. Where are you going?” Jiang Yadan asked with a frown on her face.
  • Lu Jiayi tightened the items she had in her arms awkwardly and smiled, “Mum, since my sister-in-law can't go to the charity dinner tonight, Xiuran asked me to be his date. I overslept, so I must hurry over now!”
  • “Okay.” Jiang Yadan didn't think too much about it and nodded.
  • Liang's birthday was in a few days, so Lu Jiayi had to get the product by tonight. She stepped on the accelerator and drove quickly to the black market.
  • In the presidential suite at Ritz-Carlton.
  • Fu Siye was reading the newspaper in front of the French windows. Although he was dressed casually, it seemed like an expensive outfit.
  • “Ye, you're back? Why didn't you inform me beforehand? I could've welcomed you at the airport. You returned without a word. That was unexpected.” Bo Wan was dressed in an elegant evening dress and had a pair of limited-edition high heels on. She was holding a bottle of wine as she pushed the door open. “I didn't prepare anything else, so I can only open this 30-year-old bottle of red wine to welcome you back.”
  • Her face lit up with a smile as she stared at Fu Siye.
  • The server came over with a bottle opener and two glasses.
  • Bo Wan immediately poured the wine and handed it to Fu Siye. With a smile on her face, she said, “Cheers, Senior.”
  • Fu Siye took the glass from her and swirled it before putting it back onto the table. He gave Bo Wan a smile, “I stopped drinking.”
  • Bo Wan's brows furrowed, “Are you joking? Everyone knows how addicted you are to alcohol! This is the most expensive red wine in my cellar. Many influential men in Jin City couldn't even drink it if they wanted to. Ye, I opened it to welcome you. Won't you drink it?”
  • “I'm not lying. I no longer drink.” Fu Siye returned her gaze. The light was shining behind him, casting a shadow on his expressionless face. “I've been back for a few months now. You’re welcome is too late.”
  • Bo Wan looked at him in surprise. Suddenly, a phone rang.
  • Fu Siye waved his phone in his hand and pointed to the balcony. He walked out and told her, “I have to answer this. Make yourself at home.”
