Chapter 3 Break Up With Him

  • The next day, Violet tried contacting Mike multiple times during work, but he was completely unresponsive.
  • It wasn't until she left the office that she finally received a message from him.
  • [Muse Club, Room 619.]
  • Violet frowned and called him immediately to ask what he meant.
  • No answer.
  • She hailed a cab to the club.
  • The moment she stepped inside, the heavy scent of perfume hit her. The first floor's bar blasted deafening DJ music.
  • She followed the room numbers down a quieter hallway, where the music faded. From a half-open private room, she could hear teasing voices—men and women laughing.
  • "Mr. Mike, what's the deal? You've been engaged for so long, and you still haven't gotten her?"
  • "Yeah, we were counting on you to check if she really had a sugar daddy back in college."
  • Mike chuckled lazily. "Violet? Sure, she's got a nice face, but she's stiff as a board. Once I'm done playing with her, I'll toss her aside."
  • Bang!
  • The door flew open with a forceful kick.
  • A tall, slender figure stood in the doorway, her expression icy.
  • The room fell silent.
  • Violet stepped inside, her black high heels clicking against the floor as she stopped in front of Mike.
  • She spoke only one word. "Money."
  • Mike lounged on the sofa, an arm draped around the woman in his lap.
  • "Violet, we're still an engaged couple, aren't we? Can't you talk about anything besides money?" He glanced at the onlookers, spreading his arms over the back of the couch, a cocky smirk on his face. "But it's no big deal. I'll just have a word with my uncle, and it'll be handled. Tell you what—kiss me right here, in front of everyone, and I'll take care of it for you."
  • As soon as the words left his mouth, the room erupted in cheers.
  • "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"
  • Mike grinned lazily, enjoying the atmosphere. He watched as the once unattainable ice queen leaned toward him.
  • But just as her cold voice brushed past his ear—
  • "Screw you!"
  • Mike's smile froze. He reached out, trying to grab her and force a kiss.
  • Before he could react, a loud bang echoed through the room as the door was kicked open—again.
  • Everyone instinctively turned to look.
  • A tall figure stood at the entrance, broad-shouldered and imposing. The dim light from the hallway cast sharp shadows over his features, making it impossible to read his expression.
  • "Am I interrupting something?" His voice was deep and steady.
  • From his angle, it looked like Violet was practically draped over Mike, her lips mere inches from his cheek. Mike, on the other hand, looked like he was basking in pure satisfaction.
  • Violet sprang to her feet, while the people around them stared in shock.
  • "Holy shit! Mr. Mike actually got Mr. Lucien to come!"
  • Mike stood up with a cocky smirk and turned to Lucien. "Not at all, Uncle. You're just in time! Violet and I were having a little fun."
  • He chuckled, throwing a glance at the people around him before continuing. "She owes you, what, over thirteen million? I told her if she just gave me a kiss right now, I'll put in a good word for her. But if she refuses… well, Uncle, don't go easy on her."
  • Lucien's gaze shifted from Violet to Mike. Slowly, he adjusted the cuff of his sleeve and asked, "You're going to plead for her?"
  • Mike straightened up, feeling proud to be the center of attention. "Yeah, I—"
  • Before the words could fully leave his mouth, a heavy punch landed square on his face.
  • The room fell into stunned silence as Mike crashed into a pile of liquor bottles. Glass shattered everywhere, shards embedding into his skin as bottles rolled across the floor.
  • The lingering echo of his own words twisted into a pained scream.
  • Nobody dared to move.
  • Nobody had expected Lucien to punch his own nephew—for Violet, no less.
  • Before anyone could recover, Lucien grabbed Mike by the collar and yanked him up from the broken glass. Without hesitation, he landed another solid punch.
  • Mike crumpled to the floor.
  • Towering over him, Lucien let out a cold, mocking laugh. "And you think you're worthy?"
  • Casually, he flexed his fingers, his knuckles bruised but steady.
  • The people around them averted their gazes, terrified to get caught in the crossfire.
  • Everyone knew—before Lucien left for his studies abroad in Country A, he'd been notorious throughout City B as that violent young scion from a powerful family.
  • And now? Clearly, nothing had changed.
  • Without giving anyone a chance to react, he grabbed Violet's wrist and dragged her out of the room.
  • "Hey!" Violet struggled, but his grip was firm, impossible to shake off.
  • As they walked down the hallway, curious eyes followed them, whispering in hushed tones.
  • "Shit! Isn't that Lucien? Why is he dragging his nephew's fiancée away?"
  • In an empty emergency stairwell, Lucien pinned Violet against the door, his grip still tight around her wrist.
  • The weight of his palm pressed against the pulse on her wrist, syncing with the rapid beat of her heart.
  • It was getting faster.
  • Violet shoved at his chest. "Let go! You're hurting me!"
  • Lucien loosened his grip slightly but didn't let go. Instead, his large hand shifted, pressing hers against the door. His long fingers intertwined with hers, locking them together.
  • His voice dropped to a husky whisper. "Still hurts?"
  • Violet squirmed, but every move she made only brought him closer.
  • He leaned in, his presence overwhelming. His voice grew even colder. "Where did he touch you? If I hadn't come, were you actually going to kiss him?"
  • Violet's ears buzzed. Her patience snapped. She lifted her knee and struck—hard.
  • Lucien let out a low grunt, momentarily doubling over.
  • But instead of getting angry, he threw his head back and laughed—a deep, seductive laugh that sent a shiver down her spine.
  • His eyes gleamed as he stared at her. "Damn, baby. You've got some fight in you."
  • Violet gritted her teeth in frustration. "Do you even realize how that just now could cause a huge misunderstanding?"
  • "What misunderstanding?" He sounded indifferent. "Our relationship was never that clear to begin with, was it?"
  • Violet immediately shot back, "Who's unclear with you? We broke up! Three years ago!"
  • No matter how much she argued or how dissatisfied she was, Lucien only had three words for her—
  • "I never agreed."
  • Violet spoke with conviction. "A breakup only needs to be announced, not approved! Besides, we were never public in the first place!"
  • The number of people who knew they had ever dated could be counted on one hand. As long as no one spread the word, who would even know they had been together?
  • Lucien let out a low chuckle, both amused and annoyed. "You took my first time, and I let you have me so many times after that. Did you really think it was all for free?"
  • Wasn't it her refusal that kept them from going public back then?
  • Violet pressed her lips together. What was done was done, yet he made it sound like he was the one who had suffered a loss. "Either way, you admitted last night that I'm your EX-Girlfriend."
  • Lucien felt a dull ache between his brows. Of all the things he had said, this woman just had to latch onto that.
  • He smirked. "Aren't you short on money? I'll give you thirteen point nine million dollars—kiss me. After all, kissing someone is just kissing for you, isn't it?"
  • He leaned in closer and closer, his warm breath heating her ears. "Kiss me. I taste better."
  • Violet cursed at him, "Shameless!"
  • But Lucien, without missing a beat, said matter-of-factly, "Then kiss me on the lips."
  • "..." Violet turned her face away, refusing to acknowledge him.
  • Lucien caught her chin, forcing her to look at him again.
  • She stubbornly lowered her gaze, only to notice that each knuckle of his right hand was tattooed with a simple English word.
  • Before she could take a closer look, he pressed his thumb against her jaw, snapping her back to reality.
  • Lucien's voice was firm. "Fine, don't kiss me. But break up with him."
