Chapter 22 Waiting For You

• Three soft little knocks at the front door have Hunter springing off the couch like his ass is on fire. Channel surfing has done little to keep his mind off of work. Even in the quiet peace of his own home, the feeling of being slowly suffocated always manages to consume him.
• Maybe that’s why he asked Elle to come over. Maybe having Elle in his bed will chase away everything that plagues him on a nightly basis. Or maybe he just needs her because she fills the void that has been eating away at his heart since she stepped onto that plane months ago.
• He walked to the front door and pulled it open. His lips curl upward just seeing her on his stoop, almost as if she has given confirmation that she wants this as badly as he does. “Hey,” he murmured, holding out a hand.
