• It was nearly noon when Hailey called to inform me that Jack had obtained the antidote. She instructed me to text her when I was in a safe enough condition to take it, and she would send it over. I suggested, "Let's meet somewhere other than here. I would like to see you. There's something I want to discuss."
• "Really?" She seemed slightly surprised. "Are you physically able to handle it?"
• "I need to get out for a while. I can feel myself becoming stagnant," I replied. "Kevin is having an affair with the servant right under our roof. He has no right to confine me."
