Chapter 1 South City Orphanage

  • Pingchuan City.
  • Outside a few dilapidated small courtyards, several excavators were facing two rusty iron gates.
  • The sign of the South City Orphanage was peeling and about to fall.
  • Ning Feng, carrying a travel bag, reached out and straightened the sign, feeling a bit absent-minded for a moment.
  • Ten years ago, the Ning family was tragically wiped out, and he was the only one left alive. Being pursued by enemies and with the whole city sealed off, he had no way out. He was brought back to the orphanage by the director, Lin Jinghe.
  • During his five years at the orphanage, he got to know seven sisters. But he never expected that the pursuit of his enemies would never end.
  • In order to not endanger Lin Jinghe and the seven sisters, on a rainy night, at the age of fifteen, he left the orphanage alone.
  • Ten years later, he stood here again, no longer the weak teenager from back then.
  • He was now Ning Feng, the top of the Four War Gods of the Jiuzhou Kingdom, the commander of the Southern Military Region, and a renowned general.
  • "I beg you, please, please, don't demolish it!"
  • Ning Feng was about to enter the orphanage when inside, an old man was kicked to the ground and rolled in front of him.
  • "You get out of my way! Because of this damn orphanage, I've been delayed for half a month on a project worth billions. Today, even if I have to kill you here, I will demolish this orphanage!"
  • The old man got up from the ground and knelt in front of the captain of the demolition team, tears streaming down his face.
  • "Captain Li, I beg you, it's not that I don't want it to be demolished, it's just that there are more than twenty children in this orphanage who have nowhere to go!"
  • "If you demolish the orphanage, where will these children go?"
  • Captain Li spat in front of the old man.
  • "Damn it, a bunch of orphans without parents. I don't care where they go, even if they have to beg for food, I won't give a damn. Now get out of my way!"
  • The old man knelt on the ground, stubbornly blocking Captain Li. Even if he died here today, he absolutely couldn't let them demolish the South City Orphanage.
  • Captain Li became furious and picked up a shovel, aiming it at the old man.
  • "Are you getting excited, huh?"
  • Captain Li swung the shovel, ready to strike the old man's head, but suddenly, a hand pressed on Captain Li's arm.
  • Captain Li turned around and saw Ning Feng holding his arm.
  • "I warn you, mind your own damn business!"
  • Ning Feng sneered and kicked him in the chest.
  • This kick sent Captain Li flying two meters away, rolling on the ground. He spat out a mouthful of blood, feeling the intense pain in his chest, realizing that two of his ribs were broken.
  • "Uncle Lin."
  • Ning Feng helped the old man who was kneeling on the ground.
  • The old man looked at Ning Feng, reached out his hand, and touched his weathered face.
  • "You, you are Xiaofeng?"
  • Ning Feng nodded. "Yes, Uncle Lin, I am Ning Feng. I'm back."
  • After ten years, Ning Feng never thought that he would see Lin Jinghe, the director of the South City Orphanage, in such a situation.
  • Lin Jinghe was inexplicably excited. On that rainy night ten years ago, Ning Feng disappeared from the orphanage, and he went crazy searching for him throughout Pingchuan City, but couldn't find any trace of Ning Feng.
  • He had once thought that Ning Feng had died outside...
  • But he never thought that Ning Feng was still alive.
  • "Hey, you old man, have you forgotten something?"
  • "After beating up our big brother like this, you still have the nerve to stand there and chat?"
  • At some point, more than ten people came out from the excavators.
  • Captain Li, who had just been kicked by Ning Feng, was also supported by someone.
  • "Damn it, dare to kick me. Originally, I only wanted to kill this old man today!"
  • "I didn't expect someone else would want to die with him!"
  • "Today, both of you will die here together!"
  • Captain Li waved his hand, and more than ten people, holding steel pipes, surrounded Ning Feng and Lin Jinghe.
  • Lin Jinghe was afraid, but still stood in front of Ning Feng. "Xiaofeng, run away quickly. Take care of the children in the orphanage for me. I'll stay here and hold them back!"
  • Ning Feng smiled and pulled Lin Jinghe back.
  • "Uncle Lin, you should keep this old body of yours for your twilight years. Leave these scum to me!"
  • Ning Feng put down his bag, looked at the shining steel pipes, took out his phone, and made a call.
  • "Block the streets around the South City Orphanage. Until you receive my orders, no one is allowed to enter!"
  • "And no one is allowed to leave!"
  • With Ning Feng's command, the nearest stationed army to the South City Orphanage moved and began to block the entire street.
  • Captain Li looked disdainfully at Ning Feng.
  • "You want to block the street? Have you watched too many movies?"
  • "Forget about blocking the street, even if you block the whole Pingchuan City today, you will still die here!"
  • "Attack!"
  • Captain Li shouted angrily, but the pain from his broken ribs made him grimace.
  • Ning Feng was about to counterattack when a news broadcast vehicle rushed through the alley, bypassing several excavators, and stopped in front of the South City Orphanage.
  • "Stop!"
  • In the broadcast vehicle, a woman with shoulder-length hair, carrying a camera, aimed it at the workers holding steel pipes.
  • "I am An Ran, a reporter from Pingchuan City TV Station. I am currently broadcasting live on the forced demolition incident by the Lin Group!"
  • The workers were dumbfounded.
  • Captain Li took a deep breath. Although the forced demolition by the Lin Group had caused a stir in the city, it was just a rumor. If these reporters really found evidence, he would lose his job!
  • "Stop filming, stop filming!"
  • Captain Li quickly ordered someone to snatch the camera.
  • A worker from the demolition team raised a steel pipe and was about to smash An Ran's camera.
  • Behind An Ran, a pair of strong hands held her waist and pulled her back. The steel pipe passed by An Ran's nose.
  • "Thank you, thank you..."
  • An Ran turned around and saw a slightly weathered but extremely familiar face.
  • She was taken aback, her eyes trembled, and she almost dropped the camera from her hand.
  • Ning Feng quickly caught it and leaned closer to An Ran's ear. "Wu Jie, it's been ten years. Even if you see me, there's no need to be so excited."
  • Tears streamed down An Ran's face, and she didn't care about the workers who were demolishing. She turned around and hammered Ning Feng's chest with her hand, twice. Then she felt a bit sorry and lightened her strength.
  • "You finally came back. Do you know that we've been looking for you for ten whole years!"
  • "Ten years, where did you go?"
  • Ning Feng hugged An Ran, and in his arms, An Ran calmed down.
  • In these ten years, he owed too much to his seven sisters.
  • When he left silently back then, it was because he was afraid of implicating his seven sisters and the South City Orphanage.
  • But now, as the top of the Four War Gods of the Jiuzhou Kingdom, he had no more worries.
  • He came here to avenge the Ning family's massacre fifteen years ago!
  • That night, the fire mixed with blood was still a nightmare in his heart. Even after fifteen years, it still appeared in his nightmares.
  • "Kid, hand over the camera in your hand!"
  • "Don't offer a toast only to be met with punishment!"
  • A worker from the demolition team aimed the steel pipe at Ning Feng.
  • The warmth in Ning Feng's eyes instantly turned into hostility, causing the temperature in the surroundings to drop slightly.
  • "Did I ask for your opinion?"
  • "Can't you see that I'm having a private conversation with my sister here?"
  • "You scum!"
  • Ning Feng snatched the steel pipe from the demolition worker's hand and struck him on the head. In an instant, the worker who had been shouting fell to the ground, unable to get up.
  • An Ran tried to turn her head, but Ning Feng covered her eyes.
  • These trashy people don't deserve to dirty his sister's eyes!
