Chapter 15 This Will Never Happen

  • Jian Man nodded. “I know that. This will never happen.”
  • “Mommy, what are you talking with Aunt Zhixiao? I want to listen too.” Jian Lan tugged on her mother's clothes with a pouty face.
  • “Aunt Zhixiao is praising your brother for his cooking skills.”
  • Ling Zhixiao assented, “Wow, Chen! Your dishes look better than mine. Why not you cook our dinner from today onwards?”
  • Her words made Jian Man pinch her friend. “I'm not going to let my son tire himself. You better don't try to be lazy.”
  • “Tsk tsk, the great love of a mother. Ok, to celebrate your Mommy Man for joining Fu Corporation, let's have a good dinner outside! I'll pay the bills for tonight!”
  • They proceeded to Nuotian Hotel.
  • “Chen and Lan, Aunt Zhixiao has ordered so many dishes. You two may have lived in England and gotten accustomed to Western food, but you need to know that Chinese cuisine is always the best,” Ling Zhixiao said while piling the children's plates with food.
  • Jian Man's eyes were full of smiles whenever she turned to her daughter who was eating non-stop. But when she turned to her son, that little boy was frowning slightly at his food.
  • “Chen, why aren't you eating? You don't like these?” Jian Man asked while patting her son's shoulder.
  • “Mommy, these dishes taste much better than the ones I made. I need to study it; don't disturb me.”
  • Seeing how Jian Chen sank in deep contemplation, Ling Zhixiao couldn't help but burst out laughing. “Man, your son is a real gem. He knows how to study maps and cook; there's nothing he can't do! What a versatile genius he's going to be. I'm soooooo envious and jealous.”
  • “Aunt Zhixiao, there's no use in being envious or jealous. You can work hard and give birth to one.” Jian Chen lifted his head with his frowning brows; his serious face exactly mirrored her boss.
  • Ling Zhixiao felt her heart skip a beat before pounding vigorously.
  • Damn, the way this miniature Mr. Fu looks at me, can I be honest and say that I’m really afraid of his gaze?
  • “Zhixiao, is Mr. Fu really face blind? And only towards women?”
  • Ling Zhixiao was startled by her friend's question. She wondered why Jian Man wanted to know this, but still answered honestly, “Mr. Fu is strong in everything he does, except for remembering faces of ladies. Our staff always jokes that he's going to run into trouble for not recognizing his wife's face.”
  • “Is it really that bad....” Jian Man was very surprised that he had such a serious condition.
  • “You haven't told me yet; what happened to your voice? How do you switch it from your usual voice to such a hoarse one?”
  • “Mommy took vocal lessons from a famous vocal trainer. Making her voice hoarse is just one of her little tricks,” Jian Chen explained while helping to fill his mother's plate with food like a grown up.
  • “Wow! That's awesome!”
  • Jian Man smiled. “You'll be able to do so after learning. I'll teach you when I'm free, but first I need you to give me a list of celebrities tonight.”
  • “Mommy, don't discuss work during dinner.” Jian Chen's stern but concerned voice reminded once again.
  • Jian Man smiled while raising her arms in surrender. She had no idea how to handle her son now.
  • “Mommy, I'm not feeling well,” Lan muttered with a pout. Jian Man's face changed drastically as she carried her daughter in the direction of the toilet.
  • Ling Zhixiao was left with Jian Chen, who was boring his eyes into her intently. The poor woman was unnerved by his intense gaze. This kid, can he not look at me this way?
  • Ever since she realized that Chen looked like Fu Hanyu, Ling Zhixiao had been experiencing some phobia towards the little boy.
  • Jian Man rushed to the toilet while Jian Lan was struggling in her arms. Whenever she reacted that way, the mother knew that her daughter could not hold it in any longer.
  • “Lan, the toilet is right in front. Hold on for just a moment and don't pee on me. You're 5 and too old for that.”
