Chapter 6

  • Neon's perspective
  • I was nervous around her, she wasn’t aware about it. I have never been this close to any woman, I have always known that my mate will be the only woman for me. If I haven’t found her, Diana was going to take the place of a Luna, the Alpha’s mate.
  • I felt a rush of adrenaline just standing this close to her, she had no idea how intoxicated her scent was when she’s around me or what she’s doing to me. Jax has been purring in excitement ever since we found her, we couldn’t sleep.
  • So we watched her sleep. Came into her room at intervals and stare at her, a little scared that it might be a dream and if it was, I didn’t want to wake up from it and found her gone.
  • We couldn’t wait to mark her and claim her as ours.
  • If she could reject my love now, what if I told her that she was my mate and in my territory? And the kind of world that I live in, and my identity as a werewolf.
  • How would she take them?
  • How would she react when she find out?
  • Run away and recognize us as a beast?
  • ‘We have to tell her and I’m sure she will understand.’ Jax had advised.
  • ‘Understand what? That I am a werewolf?’ I snorted at Jax.
  • ‘…she's different from us. She probably thinks I’m a beast that’s hunting for his prey.’ I argued with him. That’s what they think of us, beast.
  • ‘We are beast.’ He responded.
  • ‘I don’t want mate to think of us that way.’ I retorted.
  • ‘…she’s human and we are not.’ Jax drawled.
  • Her existence was a threat to me, I do not want her to be exposed to my world and humans can’t find out about us either.
  • When she placed her hand on my chest and pushed me off her, I loosened my grip around her waist and let go of her.
  • “That was a cheesy line.” She cleared her throat, and kept some distance between us.
  • “Was it?” I mouthed.
  • I knew nothing about romance.
  • She rolled her eyes at me.
  • “Can you take me home?”
  • “What are you gonna eat? I will ask the…”
  • “You are not going to take me home? Then leave me alone because the moment I get out of here I gonna call the cops on you!”
  • I chuckled, she amused me.
  • “On what charge?” I asked, and folded my arms.
  • I watched her lips moved, her eyes darting before meeting mine. “Kidnapping.”
  • “Can I at least get my phone? I need to call my friend Hadley.”
  • “I will talk to her.”
  • She frowned. “Do you know her?”
  • “I will find her.”
  • I dropped my hand, and let them fall to my side.
  • “I will send food, you must be hungry, and we will have this conversation after you have eaten.”
  • “I want to leave.” She stressed.
  • “After you have eaten. You can leave…” That was a lie.
  • Her mouth clamped shut, and she stared at me, I cleared my throat and crossed my arms around my back.
  • I strolled out of the room, I could feel her eyes on me but I didn’t spare her another glance.
  • As an Alpha I was taught never to show any emotions, and that was the first sign of weakness, I couldn’t tell her what I feel either but I wished she could see how badly I needed her to be here with me.
  • I went down to my study room, which was close to her room, threw the door open, and made my way to the table, millions of thoughts ran through my head.
  • She had no idea how frustrated I was. All I wanted was to find my mate, love her, and protect her.
  • I was happy I found her, staying beside her excites me and scares me as well.
  • What if she doesn’t accept my true form?
  • What if she doesn’t love me?
  • I want to get closer to her, I want to know more about her.
  • I exhaled deeply and plopped down on the chair with my elbows on the table. I reached out for the bottle of alcohol, it wasn’t the usual whisky the humans take it was mixed with wolfsbane.
  • I uncapped and poured them into a glass and chugged it down my throat. It was what she was served last night at the bar or something similar to it.
  • I took another shot, to calm my nerves.
  • ‘What should I do Jax?’ I muttered to my wolf and exhaled.
  • I did not want to force myself on her.
  • I want to make her fall in love with me the right way but I don’t know how.
  • How can I make a human fall in love with me?
  • A werewolf.
  • A knock came on the door disrupting my thoughts.
  • “Alpha.”
  • “Can I come in?”
  • “Come in, Silas.”
  • He entered the room and his eyes went round the room, the papers on the floor and the crack on the wall. I was angry at the project we were working on in the company, the plan wasn’t working as I wanted it to, and I made a mess in my study when I got home.
  • “Alpha...” He drawled.
  • I raised a hand to stop him, I wasn’t ready to listen to his nagging.
  • “How is the girl? Did you get to talk to her?” He pulled out a chair and sat down with his hand folded in front of his chest.
  • “She said she would never fall in love with me,” I said with a defeated sigh.
  • “Alpha, I’m sure your looks scare her, if I wasn’t your Beta and close friend I wouldn’t get close to you. Be nicer to her, Alpha.”
  • “I gave her a killer smile, Silas! What else can I do?” I asked with awful patience and slammed my fist on the table.
  • Silas frowned at me. “Maybe you weren’t real.”
  • “Fuck, Silas. I was real to her. I want to show her how much I cherish each moment that we spent together.”
  • “You ain’t being real.” Silas choked on a laugh and shook his head slightly at me.
  • “You are being in haste, slow down, else she’s going to hate you.”
  • “I’m being patient and she already hates me.” I gritted out and threw my hands in the air.
  • “It has only been a day, you ain’t being patient enough.” He waved a finger on my face.
  • I rolled my eyes at him. “She’s my mate. Once a werewolf find its mate, there’s no delay in getting mated.”
  • Silas stood and began to pick up a few of the paperwork on the ground and place them back on the table. He looked up at me, “She’s human.”
  • That was what I was scared of, scared of the unknown.
  • If I showed too many emotions, I would be regarded as a weak-hearted Alpha by the pack elders and it was not needed in the leadership of a pack.
  • I promised myself that I would not lead the pack the same way my father did and how he died shamefully.
  • I sheered the thought off my head and focused on Silas still picking some of the papers from the ground and arranging them on the table.
  • “Have the servant give her some food. No, you do it. Get her something to eat.” I ordered and tapped my fingers on the table.
  • He stopped and spun around to face me, I raised a brow at him studying his sudden haggard face.
  • “The reason I came here was because...” He pressed his lips into a thin lip and lowered his gaze.
  • “The thing is...” He smacked his lips together.
  • “What?” I growled, Jax and I were getting impatient already.
  • “I asked you to find out who brought her to the bar last night, she made mention of a girl Haddie. What did you find?”
  • “I found Hadley.”
  • I nodded, and Silas sighed.
  • “Her boyfriend, Eason is a werewolf.” He stated.
  • “A member of our pack?”
  • “Yes, Alpha. He came for the mating ceremony with Hadley, they brought Aria along because she suffered from a heartbreak and they didn’t know when she wandered off and came to the upper room.”
  • Heartbreak?
  • I ruffled my hair.
  • I made a mess, how could I talk about falling in love with her?
  • “Who was the bastard?” I asked through gritted teeth.
  • “I heard his name is Anton Wishley, he’s the son of D&J company we are partnering with for the expansion of our company project.” Silas explained.
  • “Send an email to them, we are canceling the deal we made.” I tapped my fingers on the table for a moment, and pushed the chair backward.
  • “I will have breakfast with Aria, tell the maid to set the table.”
  • Silas bowed while I walked passed him, I head towards Aria’s room and turned the door knob open. I wanted to apologize for acting like an asshole.
  • The only woman that has made me feel this way was her.
  • “Aria, I…” I stunned to find the room empty, the window was wide open and the wind was flapping the curtains.
  • Aria was gone.
