Chapter 10 I Am Married

  • No one would believe that the bag of trash was worth 5 million. Everyone saw it. Except for a cauldron, they were all metal scraps. Everyone thought it was a joke.
  • Rosie was confused. She did not know what Ian was up to. Perhaps Ian was only putting an act together with the old man to save his pride?
  • With a glass of wine in his hand, Ian said, “I’m really sorry. I forgot to say happy birthday to you just now.”
  • Ian took a sip of the wine in his glass. After that, he turned around and left the hotel.
  • Rosie breathed a sigh of relief. She was scared that Ian would splash the wine on her in front of all the guests.
  • Noticing that Rosie was staring at Ian's back absent-mindedly, Keith was not happy. What a lucky brat! He’s just in luck that someone offered him 5 million for that pile of scraps! But what a fool he was! If I were him, I would give the check to Rosie on the spot to show how generous I’m!
  • However, Keith did not know that Ian was disappointed that Rosie splashed the wine on him. Ian was not a fool now. He knew he was not in Rosie’s heart. If Rosie really regarded him as her husband, she would never do something which could trample his dignity in public.
  • For that reason, Ian wanted to recover Ivan’s body as soon as possible. He wanted to prove to Rosie that he was not a useless man, but the real man that Rosie had always wanted.
  • Noticing that Rosie remained quiet, Keith gave a glance at one of his subordinates. Keith’s subordinate immediately understood and said, “Mdm Young, let’s cut the cake!”
  • "Okay!" Rosie nodded and forced herself not to think so much. She did not like Ivan at all. What happened to Ivan had nothing to do with her.
  • A birthday cake was pushed into the hall by a waiter. After lighting the candles, Rosie made a wish and blew out the candles.
  • However, Rosie’s plastic knife hit something when she was cutting the cake. She quickly scraped the cake and found a shiny diamond ring.
  • Right then, Keith stood up from his chair and said affectionately, “Rosie, to be honest, I've been fond of you for a long time. This ring is for you. I hope you can accept me!”
  • “Accept him! Accept him!” Rosie's subordinates began to cheer. Even other guests also chimed in and shouted.
  • Rosie was stunned. She did not expect Keith to give her a diamond ring in front of so many people. She felt very uncomfortable. Even though she did not like Ian, it did not mean that she would accept Keith.
  • ”Sorry, I'm married!" Rosie put the diamond ring in front of Keith and said, "Thank you for coming to my birthday party tonight. But my parents are waiting for me at home, so I must leave now.”
  • Rosie then walked out of the hotel with her bag. Looking at the bustling street, she felt a little disappointed. She did not know when she would meet her real love.
  • “Hey, can you give me a ride home?” As soon as Rosie fastened her seat belt, she heard Ian’s voice.
  • In fact, Ian did not leave the hotel. He knew Keith must have prepared something for Rosie so he stood outside and watched what Keith was going to do.
  • Nonetheless, Ian did not expect Rosie would turn down Keith’s confession. Somehow he felt relieved.
  • Ian knew that he was thoughtless. Not only did he not prepare a present for Rosie, he even brought a trash bag to her birthday party. It was normal that Rosie was angry with him.
  • When Ian saw Rosie walk out of the hotel alone, he felt sorry for her. He wanted to apologize to make up with her. After all, Ivan had been calling her name even though he was dying.
  • Ian possessed Ivan’s body and memory. In fact, he felt he was changing. It seemed that he had gradually fallen in love with Rosie too.
  • Rosie looked out of the window and saw Ian, whose face was covered with sweat. Not only that, he still had the trash bag in his hand. Nonetheless, the way he looked at her was so affectionate. “Come in. Or do you still want me to open the door for you?”
  • “Thanks!” Ian smiled. He put the trash bag under his legs.
  • While driving, Rosie glanced at Ian from the rearview mirror. She asked, "What on earth is in your bag?”
  • “They are scraps to others, but they are very important to me." Ian did not reveal the details. The people he had met in his past life were not on the same level as the ones he met now. Not only that, he had a lot of enemies. He did not want to get Rosie involved.
  • “You don’t want to tell me? Fine. Forget it.” Rosie snorted and felt angry. She always felt Ian was hiding something from her. She felt disappointed. She always thought trust was the key to a successful marriage.
  • On the way back, Rosie remained silent. When they arrived at the Young residence, Ian saw a black Bentley parked in front of the house. A tall young man and a middle-aged man walked out of the car.
  • The middle-aged man looked at Ian and asked, "Mr. Griffin, can I invite you to dinner?”
  • It was Desmond. He had planned to ask Ian out at noon, but he was delayed by something, so he had to come to invite him for dinner.
  • “I’m sorry. It’s my wife’s birthday today. I have to accompany her,” Ian replied calmly.
  • Rosie happened to hear that when she was getting out of the car. Suddenly, she felt a surge of warmth in her heart. She walked over and asked, “What’s wrong? Do you know each other?”
  • "Oh, you must be Mdm Young!” Desmond smiled. However, he did not introduce himself. In fact, Desmond knew Rosie since he was close to the mayor. Nonetheless, he did not need to ingratiate himself with her. “Nothing, I just want to invite Mr. Griffin to dinner.”
  • Hearing that, Rosie was surprised. She knew Ivan too well. He either went to the hospital or stayed at home. How could he know someone who drove a Bentley?
  • Although Ian did not know Desmond, he knew Desmond must be Cindy’s father at a glance. Desmond and Cindy really looked alike. Ian believed Desmond must have come to find out about what really happened. Not only that, it seemed that Desmond would not leave if he rejected him.
  • Thinking of that, Ian had no choice but to nod. He then gave the check and the trash bag to Rosie and said, “Honey, I’ll be right back.”
  • Ian was prepared for the uncertainties.
  • Seeing that, Desmond smiled. He turned around and got in the car, followed by Ian.
