Chapter 8
- MARCUS'S POV
- Her name was Chelsea. It was such a lovely name and it suited her as well.
- It was clear that she wanted us to be friends but honestly we could never be friends and I didn't have the time to make friends. I was too busy trying to straighten out my messed up life.
- I was too busy dealing with the darkness that I've kept inside me ever since my mother passed away.
- I felt like exploding and going on a rampage whenever I saw my father's face.
- He deserved to be sentenced to death for what he did to mother and I promise one day I'll make him pay and he'll have to face the law for the murder he committed years ago.
- I was full of darkness and she was a ray of light and I would only taint her with my inner demons.
- My darkness was contiguous.
- She was full of life, bubbly, cheerful and happy while I don't even remember the day I smiled.
- It was probably on my seventh birthday when my mother planned a surprise party even if it was just the two of us. I enjoyed the beautiful moment and it was the best day of my life.
- The memory only revoked the anger and hatred that I had for my father.
- If it was up to me he would have long died the day he was handcuffed and arrested is the day I'm going to finally feel at peace.
- I'll make sure he rots in prison for the rest of his life.
- Chelsea beamed with a happy smile and stretched out her hand obviously she was expecting me to shake her hand as a sign of friendship.
- Our eyes locked in a frenzy and I stared at her in disbelief.
- What the heck was wrong with her? Did she get the message?
- She gave me that look and I rolled my eyes inwardly she made puppy eyes and pouted her pink cherry lips.
- Every muscle inside me twitched but I knew that I had to restrain myself and stay calm.
- This girl was already messing with my head and that was a warning sign.
- I had to snap out of the spell she had cast on me before it was too late.
- I sighed deeply, mirroring my emotions, keeping them at bay. I was on the verge of snapping but I had to keep my cool and restrain myself.
- "Look little girl-" before I could finish my statement she gasped in shock and frowned at me.
- CHELSEA'S POV
- Oh no he didn't.
- Did he just call me a little girl?
- I stared at him in disbelief and glared at him angrily.
- "Excuse me!" I snapped furiously and I released the breath I was holding.
- "I am not a little. I'm turning eleven this year. I'm practically a teenager."
- He chuckled lightly but his expression still looked the same.
- "Yeah I'm sure a teenager like you doesn't act so desperate just to have a single friend."
- I gaped at him in utter shock.
- He was practically mocking me.
- I didn't understand why he was so dark and mysterious and yet he was so ridiculously good looking.
- This was so unfair gosh.
- Once he noticed my frustration he smiled perfectly showing off his white teeth and I felt like my stomach did a flip.
- A single dimple appeared on his right cheek.
- No.
- If he thought that I was one of those girls who helplessly fell head over heels in love with him just because he was a bad boy then he was definitely in for a very big surprise.
- Darn it my body was betraying me yet again why was I responding to his teasing it was utterly stupid of me.
- The last thing I wanted was to find myself developing a girly high school crush on him.
- I was now entertaining his nonsense.
- I raised my hand to hit him but he caught my hand mid air and our eyes locked in a penetrative intense gaze.
- For a moment I thought that he was going to kiss me.
- "I wouldn't do that if I were you Chelsea" he warned coldly and my whole body went still paralyzed with fear.
- He gripped my arm tightly and I winced but pulled me close to him and I felt his male flesh approximately close to my feverish body.
- It felt oddly strange.
- "I don't play with little girls like you. You're so small and fragile Chelsea I could easily break you" he whispered harshly in my ear and I flinched away creating some distance between us.
- His eyes darkened with a force I couldn't explain or understand and I swallowed hard staring at him with wide eyes.
- He was dangerous.
- When he saw my reaction he smirked satisfied with himself because he got what he wanted.
- A death sentence for messing with the wrong girl.
- MARCUS'S POV
- I turned my heel and grabbed my basketball. I was about to walk away but her voice stopped me.
- "You're mean!" She yelled angrily.
- When I met her furious gaze and smirked and she stomped her foot on the ground.
- For the first time I felt like smiling this new girl had done wonders in just a few minutes. For a while we just stared at each other absently and I noticed her eyes.
- She had forest green that held that special sparkle that could easily spread a smile to one's face.
- She had that effect on me.
- I was about to walk towards her but she challenged me with her eyes and I stopped.
- She was starting a war.
- She was being ridiculously childish right now. I was ruthless and cruel but I had my limits and one of them was to never hit a woman.
- Because my mother taught me good morals. Maybe deep inside me I still had a heart despite the darkness that was still inside me roaring to be released and set free.
- I am many things but I would never hurt a girl physically even if she provokes just like the way Chelsea is doing right now.
- I was about to walk away but her voice stopped me again.
- I moistened and lips and sighed.
- What was this girl's problem?
- It was like she was obsessed with me or something. Somehow her throw backs amused me and I relaxed myself.
- She was provoking me on purpose. She wanted me to snap and go out of control but I won't give her the satisfaction.
- I'll play along and win her at her own game. It takes two to tangle.
- I smiled inwardly.
- Someone in my league had finally gotten my attention and surprisingly it was a very sassy witty redhead with green fierce eyes that held a dangerous flame.
- She might look innocent but she was very dangerous too smart for her own good. I liked her.
- I think we would get along just fine especially if we stayed out of each other's way but I had a feeling that it would be difficult to do that especially if she was continuously provoking me like this.
- I turned around and our eyes met.
- CHELSEA'S POV
- It was time for payback. I just wish that could wipe off that silly grin of his right now. I balled my hands into small fists.
- But taunting him certainly fed my ego.
- My mini me jumped happily and smiled.
- I sighed deeply and smirked inwardly.
- "Come on babe did you miss me that soon" he teased shamelessly I scoffed and walked away.
