Chapter 2 Reunited After Five Years
- "Look, Caydy, yet another individual has fallen under my charm. Alas, the burden of being aesthetically pleasing."
- Upon overhearing the surrounding chatter, Raelynn playfully prodded Cayden, wearing a self-satisfied expression while feigning a troubled sigh.
- Unperturbed, Cayden compliantly remarked, "Indeed, it is all thanks to your allure. You truly are the epitome of beauty."
- "Hmph, mere flattery. Persist in this manner, and I shall not hesitate to reprimand you!"
- Raelynn, cognizant of the adage 'nip it in the bud,' menacingly brandished her fist at Cayden.
- The onlookers found amusement in the exchange between the two adorable children.
- Meanwhile, upon catching the laughter in her vicinity, Wendalyn adjusted her sunglasses and turned back to helplessly admonish, "Alright, you two. Desist your antics, remain close to me, and refrain from straying."
- "Understood!" The duo promptly complied.
- As Wendalyn surveyed the familiar surroundings, she was overcome with emotion.
- After a five-year absence, she returned.
- This time, she was determined not to relent until she found her long-lost son.
- Guiding the children out of the terminal gate, just as her phone signal was restored, a call came through.
- Glancing at the caller ID, she addressed the children, "I need to attend to a call, ensure you both keep an eye on the luggage and refrain from wandering, understood?"
- "This seems mysterious, Mommy. You're not clandestinely discussing a new romantic interest, are you?" Cayden inquired earnestly.
- "Mommy, if it's true, I am in support. Daddy has been absent for numerous years. It is high time you sought out a replacement for us. But make sure he's not ugly," Raelynn gossiped.
- "Mommy, did Daddy really pass away?" Even after the passage of years, Cayden remained skeptical of Wendalyn's account.
- "Indeed, I would not deceive you. Were it not for the swift current of the river at the time and the subsequent failure to recover his remains, his grave would now be adorned with grass!" Wendalyn reassured while nervously patting the children's heads.
- "Stop entertaining such thoughts. I'm merely parched. I shall procure a coffee following the call. Behave yourselves and await my return here, understood?" Wendalyn reiterated after several instructions.
- Ensuring the children hadn't followed her, Wendalyn moved a short distance away and answered the call.
- On the other end, her brother, Sawyer Yeoman, spoke warmly, "Have you arrived in Quenlydale? Exercise caution. Timothy is in search of 'Arwen.'"
- "Why? After all this time, has that b*stard not relinquished the thought of finding me?" Wendalyn expressed her surprise.
- "Not exactly. Timothy doesn't know that Arwen is you. I heard someone in his family is ill, and after trying numerous modern medical treatments to no avail, they want to consult a renowned traditional medicine expert like you."
- The voice on the other end paused before adding, "Maybe you should go take a look. If you manage to cure them, it might resolve the grudge between you two."
- "Forget it. Our grudge isn't that easily resolved. Besides, I'm back this time to quietly find my son. I don't want to meet him unless it is absolutely necessary. I don't want to risk exposing Rae and Cay before finding my younger son."
- "Alright, just be careful."
- "Got it. Don't worry."
- After hanging up, Wendalyn used the waiting time for her coffee to purchase three masks at a convenience store.
- Seeing Raelynn and Cayden, she pulled out the masks and firmly put them on the kids.
- "Here, put on your masks. Lots of people mean lots of germs. We need to prevent diseases."
- Raelynn resembled her, but Cayden bore a noticeable resemblance to Timothy. Since they were in Quenlydale, it was better to be cautious.
- "Mommy, do we really have to wear them?" Raelynn asked reluctantly, looking at the mask.
- Wearing this, my extraordinary beauty won't be appreciated by others.
- "Absolutely!"
- "Alright then." Seeing Wendalyn's firm stance, Raelynn compromised.
- Wendalyn usually appeared gentle, but when she became serious, she could be quite intimidating. Raelynn didn't dare to argue.
- Once they were all masked up, Wendalyn dragged the suitcase and continued toward the airport exit with the kids.
- Unexpectedly, after a few steps, Raelynn suddenly shouted, "Mommy, watch out!"
- Before Wendalyn could react, she collided with a man who was on the phone, spilling her coffee all over him.
- She was about to apologize when a cold, deep voice came from above her, saying, "Watch where you're going."
- Wendalyn froze.
- This voice... is it Timothy?
