Chapter 7

  • “What do you think?” Latina asked, spinning around to show Sebastian’s clothes that she was wearing.
  • ‘Sexy,’ Sebastian thought. He gasped and extended his hand. “People need not see you in a beautiful dress, so they could swoon over you. Let’s go,” he said.
  • Latina shrugged and grabbed Sebastian’s arm. “It’s more convenient to wear this than the dresses though,” she stated, linking their arms together. “Why don’t you buy more of this for me?”
  • “Can’t. You’re a lady and still have to wear pretty dresses when you’re with me.”
  • Sebastian helped her got on the carriage. He made sure that she was comfortable on her seat before sitting next to her. “Buscia city,” Sebastian told the chauffeur.
  • “Yes, my lord.” The old man pulled the reign, and the carriage moved, thanks to the horses dragging it.
  • “Buscia city? Is it far?” Latina asked.
  • “No, it is a few miles away. They have better goods than in the local market,” Sebastian explained. “You’ll see many fine things you might like over there,” he added.
  • Latina’s eyes sparkled. Not knowing what are beautiful things, she felt delighted. Aside from various hues that she saw when she was having a sweet time with the man, she couldn’t decide what else should be considered beautiful. She hugged Sebastian’s arm and rubbed her cheek on it. “Wonderful things, here I come!”
  • “Silly,” Sebastian whispered.
  • Buscia city was located on the west part of the empire. Mountains and forests circled the western part or generally known as the western woods. Other than a tiny village on the foot of the mountain and Sebastian’s mansion in the heart of the woodlands, no noble dared to reside there. This was one of the reasons Sebastian built his manor in western woods, he doesn’t require covering up his identity as there are fewer people around, and he can live away from the elders who remain in the capital.
  • The noises coming from the restless crowds moving around the city streets woke up Latina. She told herself not to sleep, so she would be able to enjoy the view on the road, but her body gave up. After doing a few rounds in the kitchen with Sebastian, there was no way she could resist the urge to relax when she was sitting next to her lover.
  • “We’re here,” Sebastian said, patting her cheeks. “Open your eyes sweetie, I know you’re awake.”
  • Latina did what she was told, lifting her head and taking a peep from the carriage’s window. Her views widen when she saw many people outside.
  • “Oh! They’re wearing dresses in unique colors!” She shouted, tugging on Sebastian’s sleeve.
  • “Quiet down,” Sebastian sighed but laughed a little. He could only blame himself for getting dull-painted clothes for Latina before. Not considering what the lady would like, he bought those garments just so she had something to wear. Shopping for clothes with her should be different, though. He could spend an entire day shopping with her, buying whatever she wanted.
  • “Why don’t we get something to eat first?” he suggested.
  • Latina paused for a moment and said, “Why don’t we buy clothes?”
  • Sighing, Sebastian nodded his head. He got off the carriage and assisted the lady after.
  • “Don’t you feel like someone’s watching behind us?” Latina whispered when she noticed a faint presence following them since they left the manor. She could still feel it when they arrived in the city.
  • Sebastian turned his head to the side. “It must be just your imagination, it’s crowded here and you’re not used to this place.” Sebastian planted a kiss on her forehead, “Don’t worry, I’m here to protect you.”
  • Latina smiled and nodded her head, “Got it!”
  • They headed to one of the leading stores in the city. It displayed beautiful clothes and shoes, drawing attention to every passerby.
  • “Bastard! I’m feeding you to clean the store, not to slack off!” A middle-aged woman with fuzzy hair hit the young boy.
  • “Madame, hear me out. I’m not slacking off, I just had to use the restroom...”
  • The woman didn’t let the boy finished what he wished to say. She whacked him until his face became sore. “Worthless wretch! Your mother made a wise decision leaving you behind, TSK!” her loud voice gained attention.
  • Latina’s eyes were fixated on the young boy’s face. Her heart ached when the child broke down.
  • “You’re crying now?! You should move your ass and start cleaning or else no one wouldn’t want to purchase anything in my store if it’s filthy.” The woman yelled in the lad’s ears.
  • “No one would prefer to buy something when the store owner doesn’t know how to value their employee,” Sebastian spoke, disgusted. Today’s the first time he brought Latina outside to enjoy but the woman ruined it by beating the boy in their presence, the moment they arrived at the store. “I thought this store was remarkable for its goods, little did I know that it’s also famous for having an incompetent owner.”
  • Latina took the chance to help the boy while the owner’s attention was focused on Sebastian.
  • The woman placed her hands on her waist, “Sir, my store is famous because I have everything that my customer needs. If you need anything, I can give it to you,” she raised her brows. “Just make sure that you can afford its price.”
  • Sebastian smiled, a sinister one, “I could tell that I have nothing I want from this store, but you lack something in here.” Sebastian turned his gaze on Latina, “Let’s go check other stores, sweetie.
  • Latina nodded her head and held the boy’s arm, planning to bring him along with them.
  • “Psh. Just be frank if you don’t have enough money to afford my goods. Your wife even wears a man’s attire,” the woman commented, looking at Latina’s clothes. “I lack a thing in here? What would that be?” she challenged.
  • “Manners,” Sebastian answered. He pulled Latina’s hand and was annoyed when he saw how the lady clutched on the young boy’s arm.
  • “Let’s help him,” Latina suggested, dragging the boy with her.
  • Sebastian stared at the young boy. He got brown eyes and black hair, but he doesn’t seem like a vampire. ‘If he’s an ordinary human and Latina drinks his blood. Things will be easier,” he thought.
  • “NO! That bastard is not allowed to leave, he still needs to clean the store!” The woman yelled and pulled the young boy’s arm away from Latina.
  • “Sebastian,” Latina looked at her lover’s eyes, hoping for his assistance.
  • “What’s your name?” Sebastian asked the boy.
  • “Marco Luxfode,” the young boy answered.
  • Sebastian stared at the boy, “Do you want me to save you?”
  • The young boy was about to nod his head, but he stopped the urged to do so. He bowed and said, “I will work for you without pay and do whatever I can to repay you someday. So please, help me just this once.”
  • Upon hearing what the boy said, Sebastian's face glimmered. If he could get the help of the boy to let Latina drink human blood, it would be all worth it.
  • “Here,” Sebastian tossed a purse of silver coins to the woman. He then pulled the boy away and dragged him with Latina in tow outside the store, leaving the woman speechless.
