Chapter 6 006

  • As she sat, deep in thought, a sudden buzz broke her concentration. A notification appeared on her phone, with a message from her former fiancé, David.
  • "Why is he sending me a message out of the blue?" She muttered within herself as she unlocked her phone to read the message, feeling a mixture of anxiety and curiosity. She read the message, and her breath caught in her throat.
  • Sarah stared at the message sent to her, her curiosity suddenly turned into a mixture of anger and sadness. It reads, 'I can't believe you are such a gold digger, Sarah! This was your plan all along? To ditch me, leave me in disgrace at the altar, and go after the president because he's loaded, isn't he?'
  • Sarah gritted her teeth in fury as she read the message further. 'You are such a cheap slut, but I promise you, Sarah, that I won't go down without a fight! Be on your best guard because tonight, I'm giving you the biggest surprise of your life...!'
  • David's words cut through her like a knife, the fact that he got the nerve to accuse her of chasing after the President's money and leaving him disgraced at the altar makes her stomach churned in fury.
  • "That dirtbag!" She cussed under her breath, her fist clenched in anger. "What does he want with me? How dare he call me names when he's the jerk who goes around sleeping with his fiancée's best friend?"
  • The thought of his harsh words unsettled her, and she couldn't shake off the feeling of being unjustly accused.
  • Even though it was just a text message, the threat vibrated in the silence of her dwelling, his words laced with a bitter sentiment — a big surprise that was to be delivered before the end of the day.

  • LATER THAT DAY
  • "Ma'am..." Sarah felt a gentle tap on her skin as the soft voice disrupted her slumber. She slowly opened her eyes, trying to stay conscious as she stared at the person who roused her from sleep.
  • It was the nanny — she was wearing the kind of expression Sarah hadn't seen on her face before which got her alarm. "Ma'am, I'm sorry to have disturbed your sleep but you need to see this!" Her tone was laced with urgency.
  • This time, Sarah knew something was wrong as her eyes were wide opened instantly, the sleep clearing off them. "What is it? Is there something wrong?" She inquired hastily. "Is it the kids? Did something happen to them?"
  • The nanny shook her head negatively in response. "This isn't about the kids but you, ma'am." She said and picked up the remote from the lamp stand beside Sarah's bed, switching the big screen on. "Someone is out there trying to spread a rumor about you just to tarnish your image!"
  • "What...?" Sarah was shocked, the nanny's words hitting her on the guts. Who would have thought of doing such a thing to her?
  • "Here..." She said, pointing at the screen. "The news has suddenly gone viral and it's now the talk of the media at the moment, that man seems like he won't stop at nothing, ma'am!"
  • It was David.
  • He's currently on the most popular live show in the States, sitting comfortably with a proud expression on his face. He seems like a guest on the show — but Sarah doubts he was invited.
  • "This was what you planned, you scumbag!" She muttered under her breath, panting heavily as she watched David answering questions with nothing but lies about her. "That crazy jerk won't stop at nothing until he ruins me completely."
  • While she fumes in anger, David is busy publicly denouncing her and spreading false rumors about her. He painted her as a greedy woman who would stop at nothing to fulfill her material desires, tarnishing her reputation in the process.
  • "...If I had known this was her plan all along, I wouldn't have carried on with the wedding plans." David muffled out, his face masked with dejection. He was having fun on the big screen, playing the victim. "—and if possible, notify the president on how despicable she can be."
  • "...Even at this moment, you aren't only worried about yourself but the president as well?..." The interviewer asked, wearing an amused look on her face.
  • "Ah, yes!" He nodded almost immediately, his face etched with deep lines. "I would advise the president to take the possible move now before things go out of hand. I fell for her innocent face but it was all just a facade, I hope they see through things."
  • 'David sure knows how to play his cards well...' Sarah thought within herself, too ashamed to hold her head up.
  • She knew he was the kind of person who could blackmail another if things didn't go well with him — but she was foolishly blinded by the love she had for him, ignoring all the red flags in him.
  • Feeling lost and heartbroken, Sarah was trapped in a web of despair. The weight of David's betrayal and the public humiliation felt suffocating — it wasn't the type of humiliation that can be stood or clear that easily.
  • "...You are not to appear in public without my knowledge. No more scandalous headline, Sarah...!" The President's voice rang loudly in her head.
  • The mention of the president's warning only added to her sense of being trapped. She realized that she owed the world the truth, and she couldn't bear the thought of being misunderstood and judged unfairly.
  • As the world awaited her response, Sarah knew that she needed to break free from the lies and reveal the truth. She made a resolve to confront the situation head-on, to clear her name and salvage her integrity.
  • For the first time since she arrived at the President's villa, she was determined to break his rule. Her name and reputation are at stake at the moment, she can't stand by and watch everything she owns be brought down to ruin!
