Chapter 78 Walk Away First
- The early morning chill greets my skin as I step out onto the courtyard of the silver tower. The shadowed woods stretches out before me, or what is left of it after the wildfire. My body is well rested, but my mind is not. Sleep didn't come easy, Alaric's touch still lingers on my skin, the weight of his gaze branded into my mind.
- Mikos has already phoned three times today. And left me about a dozen texts, I am beginning to contemplate handing my phone back to Cedric's custody, keeping it seems to be doing me more harm than good.
- I glance at the phone as it lights up once again, the screen glows with his name, and I switch it off without thought. Maybe it is a little petty, but the fact remains that I am no longer his to call. And him doing this is selfishly demanding my attention which he has no rights to.
