Chapter 95 Press Charges

• Calvin felt like shit. He woke up feeling like he had a weight in his eyes until that slowly lifted. Rolling to the other side, he frowned when his body encountered nothing. He sat up, patting the bed as if expecting his wife to appear there. But she wasn’t. The bed was still warm, so she couldn’t have been up for long. He went to the bathroom, but it was empty. He avoided looking at his face until he had brushed. Splashing water on his face, he dragged his lower lid down.
• Angel had applied the eye drops yesterday. The redness around that eye had reduced, but the bruise was still obvious. He couldn’t go to work like this, but he had places to be. Walking back to the room, he opened the door and paused when Angel entered. She was holding a wooden stool with a tray. He wanted to smile but couldn’t.
• “You’re awake.”
