As the party wound down, I was feeling happy and content. Stan had been surprised and delighted by the celebration, and Leo had fit in seamlessly with our little family. I was starting to feel like maybe, just maybe, I had finally found happiness.
Leo dropped me at home after we stayed back to spend time together alone, but just as I was about to relax and enjoy the rest of the evening, I heard a knock at the door. I frowned, wondering who it could be. Stan got up to answer it, and I followed him, curious.
