• I woke up early, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. Today was Stan's birthday, and we had planned a surprise party at his favorite restaurant, for him tonight. But first, we had to stick to our plan, just to pretend we forgot his birthday, to make the surprise even more special.
• I walked into the kitchen, where Stan was already eating reakfast. "Hey, morning," he said, giving me a sleepy smile.
• "Morning," I replied, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible. "So, what's the plan for today?"
