- Aurora’s POV
- The conference room door shut, cutting off Vanessa’s pale, livid face. The other execs traded looks, jumped to their feet, tossed out excuses, and cleared out fast. In the big, empty room, it was just me and Oliver.
- “Sorry, Aurora.” Oliver came over, pulled out the chair Vanessa had been sitting in, and sank his tall frame into it. He pressed his fingers to his brow. He sounded bone-tired. “I didn’t think she’d pull that stunt in a regular meeting. After what happened at the estate, I warned her. I thought she’d rein it in.”
