- Aurora’s POV
- The Maybach cut through the rainy night, and the air inside the car was so heavy it was hard to breathe. I leaned back against the cold leather seat, eyes locked on the blurred streetlights streaking past the window, forcing myself not to think about that wreck of a figure on his knees in the downpour I’d seen in the rearview mirror.
- The fingerprint lock on my apartment chirped. I pushed the door open and walked into a wall of dead, empty darkness. No warm lights. No dinner waiting. No one sitting on the couch like always, waiting for me to come home.
