Chapter 2 The Confrontation

  • CHAPTER 2: THE CONFRONTATION
  • SHANBRI POV
  • I entered the apartment and dropped my small bag on the sofa in my living room.
  • The size of this apartment is just right for me. I'm the only one living here, but sometimes Trish, my only best friend, spends the night here. Because I'm not very friendly.
  • Trish has been my friend since college. We are in the same class and we both interned before at KY Villamor's Corporation, the name of my boyfriend Kenj's company.
  • Because his full name is Kenji Yael Villamor, his parents' company was named after him and later it was bequeathed to him. His nickname is Yael but I want to call him Kenj so he agreed.
  • I drank some water before entering my room and lying down. Today was tiring but happy because Kenj was with me.
  • I was about to close my eyes but suddenly my cell phone rang.
  • Has Kenj arrived at his condo so quickly? I was surprised and looked to see if he texted.
  • My eyes widened when I read the text message, it wasn't from Kenj.
  • Unknown Number:
  • I know your relationship with my son. Meet me now. Let's talk. I will send you the address.
  • Yael's mom.
  • My heart pounded and I was surprised by what I read.
  • How did Kenj's mom know my number? It's impossible that he gave it and it's already night, so why does she want to meet now if it's possible tomorrow.
  • I can't help but think. I'm nervous that Kenj's mommy knows about our relationship.
  • What if he doesn't like me? And that's why he wants to see me, because she wants to break us up.
  • Will she give me money like the ones I watch? I just heaved a sigh, I'm really nervous.
  • My cell phone rang again and Kenj's mom texted the address where we would meet.
  • It's at an expensive restaurant but I don't think we can eat later either.
  • Even though I hesitated, I immediately went to the restaurant without knowing the exact time, because I didn't want Kenj's mommy to wait for me.
  • I stopped a taxi and got on. I told the driver the address and he immediately started the taxi and took the road to it.
  • ___
  • When I entered the restaurant, there were many people inside because it was dinner time.
  • I'm nervous that if I'm humiliated here, many people will see it by chance.
  • I cleared my mind and looked inside to find Kenj's mommy.
  • Suddenly, an employee at the restaurant came up to me and asked me.
  • "Good evening ma'am. Do you have a reservation?" he asked.
  • "Ah, nothing. But I will meet here with Mrs. Kara Villamor," I mentioned the name of Kenj's mommy.
  • The Villamors are well known so if she is here the employees will definitely know immediately.
  • "Are you Miss Ramos?" he asked again.
  • "Ah yes, it's me," I answered politely.
  • "Mrs. Villamor has been waiting for a while. This way ma'am," and he led me to a room. I think this is a VIP room.
  • We arrived and I was immediately let inside and left here.
  • I was nervous when I entered and saw Mrs. Villamor sitting at the table drinking wine. I hope he doesn't spill that on me later.
  • I sighed and slowly approached the table. She noticed me and immediately looked at me from head to toe.
  • There is mockery in her eyes. I was especially afraid of her eyebrows. They were perfectly carved.
  • "Good evening, ma'am," I greeted initially and bowed slightly as a sign of respect.
  • "So you're the girl. Sit down Miss Ramos right?" she just asked me with a serious voice.
  • My hands are suddenly sweaty and it's like this when I'm nervous.
  • "Yes ma'am, I am," I answered politely and sat down.
  • She sipped her wine and spoke.
  • "I won't bother you anymore. I know you're my son's girlfriend and if you think I don't know what you're doing, you're wrong."
  • "At first I just let you go because my son might just be playing and get bored when he's with you too."
  • "But you two have been going out for a long time and you still see each other all the time even though you know my son is busy!" long and angry response of the lady.
  • "I know he's busy but we meet after work and when he doesn't have work at the office." My voice has gone from page to page.
  • "No work at the office? How long have I known that my son has no rest at work and it's late at night when he comes home and sometimes he's even in the office sleeping."
  • "My son is such a workaholic but since he met you, he has reduced his time at work and even once did not show up to the meeting because he said you were sick!" The lady started screaming.
  • I didn't know that even this would reach her. When I was sick, Kenj took care of me, he said he didn't have anything to do in the office and his assistant was there.
  • "I didn't kn-" I didn't finish because the lady interrupted.
  • "You don't know because you really don't know anything! I know you're only after money from my son, how much do you need and I'll give it to you," she said arrogantly.
  • I knew that it would happen. I immediately refused.
  • "I don't need your money. I love your son ma'am." I'm already crying.
  • "Oh, really?! I'm telling you my son doesn't love you so break up with him!" The lady is very angry and I can see the vein in her neck.
  • "Ma'am, I can't do that. I love your son and I know he loves me too," I told her firmly. I'm sure Kenj loves me because that's how he makes me feel.
  • "Well, I guess I have to tell you the truth," she just said all of a sudden. I was nervous.
  • "W-what t-truth ma'am?" I stuttered to ask the lady.
  • "My son is already engaged. He will go to marry his childhood sweetheart so if I were you, break up with him because there is nothing else you can do." she said with finality.
  • The tears I had been holding back fell from my eyes because of what I heard.
  • "That's not true. Kenj isn't telling me anything," I replied crying.
  • "That's what you thought. My son only fell in love with you because he was bored."
  • "He has loved his childhood sweetheart for a long time and he is just waiting for her to come home to California and once she is here, they will get married so don't waste any more time on my son!" The last words of the lady before leaving the room.
  • I was left dumbfounded and tears continued to flow down my cheeks.
