Chapter 2 I Will Marry Leander, The Son Of Hades

  • Upon hearing the name I had spoken, my dad froze, his eyes widening in shock.
  • “Freya, are you sure? He's..."
  • His lips trembled, unable to form the rest of his words, but I merely nodded calmly.
  • “Very sure, Dad. I’ve never been more certain than I am now.”
  • I said it with absolute conviction. My dad stared deeply into my eyes for a long while. Then, a faint smile curved across his lips.
  • “Very good, my dear daughter. My daughter should have always been this strong.”
  • He gently patted my head and chuckled.
  • “I’ve long felt that Elias, the son of that lowly river goddess, was unworthy of your noble status..."
  • He clenched his fists angrily.
  • “He even dared to look down on you and treat you so poorly. If you hadn’t been so infatuated with him, I would have punished him long ago.”
  • Thinking of the past, I blinked and smiled bitterly. I had been blind before, but now my eyes were finally open.
  • “I won’t be foolish over that bastard anymore, Dad.”
  • My words put my dad completely at ease.
  • “Whoever you choose to marry, I will always support you.”
  • He blinked.
  • “Tomorrow, announce your future husband to all the gods in the divine realm of Olympus.”
  • I nodded with a soft smile.
  • His support made the bridge of my nose sting with emotion, giving me even more courage to let go of that worthless man.
  • ...
  • The next day, the Pairing Ceremony proceeded as planned.
  • The sacred temple was lavishly decorated, and all the gods of the divine realm appeared to witness the ceremony.
  • And, just as he had threatened, Elias did not appear.
  • Whispers continuously arose throughout the hall, while uneasy and bewildered gazes kept falling on my face.
  • I knew what they meant. After all, everyone in the divine realm knew that I had loved Elias and desperately pursued him for years.
  • Today, his absence was no different from openly defying me. Everyone was waiting to see me become a laughingstock.
  • However, I remained completely unfazed, continuing to hold my head high as I carried out every solemn ritual of the ceremony.
  • Until the final ritual.
  • “Freya..."
  • My dad gently called my name.
  • “Have you chosen the god who will become your husband?”
  • Every gaze instantly fell upon me, and my dad smiled faintly as well.
  • “Is he here today? Go to him and announce it to everyone.”
  • The entire hall fell so silent that even the sound of breathing could be heard. Countless gazes waited expectantly for my answer.
  • Taking a deep breath, I curled my lips into a smile.
  • “I’ve made my choice. And my future husband is here too.”
  • Whispers immediately erupted from the crowd, and everyone began looking around for Elias.
  • However, I simply held my head high and walked straight toward a young and handsome god standing in a secluded corner of the hall. Looking gently into his eyes, I declared proudly,
  • “Before all the gods of Olympus, I hereby declare that I will marry Leander, the Son of Hades.”
