Chapter 7 I'm Not the Medicine God
- "Nine Divine Needles!"
- Isaac couldn't believe it—it was the lost Nine Divine Needles, and it was the full version!
- In a flash, Matthew's condition, along with Ethan's usual indifference, combined with the complete needle technique made Isaac kneel.
- "Wow, a real genius doctor!"
- Remembering how he had scorned Ethan just moments ago with such superiority, his face burned instantly with shame.
- George was also dumbfounded as the data on the instruments began to rapidly rise and return to normal!
- "Oh my goodness."
- George never imagined that the beggar he referred to would turn out to be a genius doctor!
- Boom! Boom! Boom!
- "Dr. Lowe, what's happening? We're coming in!"
- Leah and the others were about to enter.
- "I'm circulating vital energy. Can't be disturbed!" Ethan replied seriously and coldly.
- Ethan's words made both of them quickly comply. "It's fine, no need to come in!"
- Isaac heard something that was hard to believe.
- "Circulating vital energy? Dr. Bennett, could it be you're the legendary immortal doctor?"
- Only now did he realise that Ethan seemed to be using the technique of circulating vital energy during the acupuncture just now!
- Thinking about this, his beard trembled with excitement, and George also seemed a bit bewildered.
- Immortal doctor?
- But unfortunately, Ethan couldn't care less about them, which only made the two feel more awkward.
- Cough cough!
- Just then, Matthew woke up again. Seeing Ethan saving him and noticing even Isaac was kneeling down, he became even more convinced that Ethan was his family's lucky charm.
- Ethan put away the silver needle.
- "Mr. King, I've healed your internal injuries. Rest for a couple of days and you'll be good. But the real issue is your low male energy. You need to take some elixir," he said.
- Hearing this, Matthew's expression changed.
- "Male energy?" Isaac and George were bewildered.
- Ethan calmly responded, "Five years ago, Mr. King didn't just lose fingers, he also lost something crucial as a man ... "
- "Cough cough!" Matthew hurriedly coughed. "Ethan, that's enough."
- Matthew's face turned bright red. Apart from the attending doctor and his wife, Claudia, no one else knew about this.
- For men, especially for the patriarch of the King family, it was a profound shame.
- Isaac and George were completely taken aback. How did Ethan know?
- "Dr. Lowe, Mr. Ferguson, we go way back. I need a favour from you both. Please, keep everything that happened in this room today confidential. I really can't afford to lose face over this," urged Matthew sincerely.
- Both men nodded hastily.
- "You can count on us. Not a word will slip."
- Meanwhile, Isaac hurriedly knelt in front of Ethan. "Dr. Bennett, I was out of line earlier and said things I shouldn't have. Please forgive me.
- "And I also want to become your apprentice!"
- Isaac's sudden declaration shocked George and Matthew.
- One of Emberhold's top five genius doctors, unparalleled in acupuncture skills, was kneeling!
- And what's more to that, he wanted to learn from Ethan!
- Understanding the gravity of the situation, George apologised sincerely to Ethan.
- Matthew squinted thoughtfully, making a crucial decision.
- "Let's talk about that later, I'm not available right now," Ethan impatiently waved them off.
- "Can we at least get your phone number then?" Isaac and George quickly stepped up, trying to appease him.
- Ethan casually gave it to them.
- "Haha, I've truly escaped a great disaster today," Matthew said cheerfully. "Hurry up and gather everyone, I have an announcement to make!"
- Three minutes later.
- The Kings came back in, seeing Matthew looking much better and full of energy. Leah and the others were ecstatic.
- "Mr. Ferguson, thank you so much!"
- "Dr. Lowe, thanks to you too. If you guys hadn't stepped in, my dad would have been done for because of that j*rk!"
- Leah said, about to kneel in gratitude to Isaac.
- "Yeah, yeah, it wasn't me ... " Isaac started to say, but he got flustered, afraid he might reveal what had happened to Matthew.
- "Hehe, Leah, let's not talk about my situation right now." Matthew laughed, then turned to Ethan in front of everyone.
- "Ethan, are you married?"
- Ethan? The Kings frowned.
- Ethan shook his head and said, "I was supposed to be, but the engagement got called off today ... "
- Matthew, confused, asked for more details, so Ethan explained how the Lewises had cancelled the engagement.
- "The Lewises has really crossed the line. They're complete id*ots!" Matthew first got angry, then suddenly brightened up.
- "But this works out. If the Lewises don't want such a great son-in-law, I do!"
- Matthew's change in attitude left the Kings completely bewildered.
- "Leah, get ready to marry Ethan!" Matthew said excitedly.
- "What?"
- "Huh?"
- Everyone in the room was shocked, even Ethan was taken aback.
- So this was what Matthew was getting at after all his questions?
- Isaac smiled wryly, knowing his grandson had no chance, but he understood Matthew—who wouldn't want such an impressive son-in-law?
- "No way!"
- "I don't agree!"
- Leah and Claudia reacted instantly, shouting in unison!
- Penny also frowned.
- Matthew chuckled and advised, "Leah, Ethan is really impressive, you just haven't noticed it yet ... "
- "No way, I'll never marry someone like him!" Leah protested strongly.
- "I've said it, the marriage is set, no arguments. Do you all want to piss me off?" Matthew suddenly turned stern.
- "Um, Mr. King, I think maybe this isn't quite appropriate ... "
- "Shut up, you too!" Matthew suddenly snapped at Ethan, clearly trying to intimidate him.
- Seeing that Ethan was still young and inexperienced, he felt he had to secure such a good son-in-law.
- "You're getting married in three days! Otherwise, I'll make a scene!" Matthew stubbornly declared.
- "Dad ... " Leah rolled her eyes in frustration.
- Penny quickly stepped in with a smile. "Let's not be too willful. How about a compromise? Let's have an engagement first in three days! That way, the two kids can get to know each other better."
- At the same time, she hurriedly took Leah aside.
- She whispered, "The new marriage law is out. Without a marriage certificate, even a wedding doesn't count as a marriage, let alone an engagement. It's all fake. Let's calm your dad down first."
- In the end, both sides compromised.
- Three days later, they held a grand engagement ceremony and invited the whole city.
- Ethan had mixed feelings, but for the sake of his seniors, it seemed like a way forward.
- After some hesitation, he took out a small black bottle and an ancient prescription.
- "Now that it's settled, I can't be impolite. Mr. King, this is my first visit, I present you with a bottle of Bone Regenerating Ointment. It may not be very precious, but it's worth tens of thousands."
- Ethan handed the bottle to Matthew.
- "If you use it regularly, fingers that have been cut off can grow back in as little as one or two months, or up to six months!"
- "You're really good at exaggerating!" Leah rolled her eyes at Ethan.
- "Really?" Matthew exclaimed excitedly. Once he opened it, it released a strong stench.
- Everyone's faces turned pale, with Claudia, being a candidate for this year's Medicine God, particularly furious.
- "Nonsense! Where did you dig up this stinky mud from? Are you trying to insult us?"
- Others also looked at him with disdain.
- Penny, however, covered her mouth and chuckled softly. This young man always caused such a commotion.
- "Don't worry, Ethan. I'll definitely apply it every day," Matthew said seriously as he put it away.
- Whether the severed fingers grew back or not didn't matter; he just hoped it would work for that area.
- "Ridiculous!" Claudia burst out, her patience already stretched thin from the engagement and now feeling her sacred pharmacological knowledge being disrespected.
- "You wild boy, you're just ... "
- "Aunt Claudia, I have something for you too," Ethan said, handing the ancient prescription to Claudia.
- "I heard from Isaac that your family is in the pharmaceutical business. If you use this Bone Regenerating Ointment formula for production, it could easily multiply your company's market value by ten times or more!"
- "That's ridiculous!"
- Claudia chuckled in disbelief. Their company's market value was already at least 750 million, and multiplying it by ten? Seventy-five billion?
- Was he kidding?
- "Just because you say it's an ancient recipe, does that mean it is? Kid, do you ever think before you talk big?
- "Every time an ancient recipe appears, it's accompanied by rivers of blood. If this really were an ancient recipe, would you give it to me like this? Who do you think you're fooling?"
- Even though her father and their rival, the Daniel family, only had a broken ancient recipe between them, it still earned them the reputation as masters of medicine.
- "Oh my, Claudia, it's just a heartfelt gesture from the kid. Just take it," Matthew said as he stood up and placed the prescription in her pocket.
- "Hmph!" Claudia snorted coldly and turned away, clearly disdainful.
- Penny looked amused as she watched Ethan. Is this how he's handling the betrothal gift?
- Matthew chuckled indifferently.
- "The engagement banquet in three days must be grand.
- "Oh, and make sure to invite the Lewises, Michael, and his granddaughter Riley.
- "I really want to see their reaction when they find out Ethan is my son-in-law!"
- Leah didn't want to say much. She pulled Isaac outside and asked urgently, "Dr. Lowe, how serious is my dad's condition? You have to tell me everything."
- Isaac's face instantly darkened.
- Tell you everything? How do I say it?
- That your dad's ... is gone?
- Isaac felt awkward. "Leah, let me explain it clearly to your mom later."
