Chapter 5 Can't Control Yourself?

  • Leah went wild, desperate to charge forward, but Ethan had already grabbed Matthew and dragged him back.
  • "Stay put, all of you!"
  • Ethan spun around, yelling to stop everyone in their tracks.
  • Even Leah hesitated for a moment.
  • Then Ethan turned back to face Matthew.
  • Smack! Smack!
  • Two hard slaps struck Matthew's face, blood slowly trickling from his mouth.
  • Leah staggered back in anger, feeling a sharp pain in her chest.
  • Claudia's vision darkened, and she fainted on the spot.
  • Penny was also at a loss. Is this the genius doctor I have recommended?
  • Ethan ignored them, finishing up with Matthew and placing him in an odd position.
  • George hurriedly pushed Ethan aside, connecting various instruments.
  • He didn't have time to scold Ethan. His intuition as a doctor told him that Matthew was in a critical condition.
  • Seeing his panic, Ethan quickly explained.
  • "Don't worry. It's called the revival position. I've already broken up the stubborn blood clots in his body with true energy. Just keep him in this position without moving. He'll wake up in five minutes, and if we keep it up for another five ... "
  • "Bullsh*t!"
  • Before Ethan could finish, George erupted in rage, his face twisted with fury as he pointed at Ethan.
  • "You've f*cking killed Matthew!"
  • His words sent shockwaves through the room.
  • The Kings felt as though they'd been struck by lightning as they glanced at the monitors.
  • A flatline!
  • No breath!
  • No heartbeat!
  • No pulse!
  • Their faces froze in disbelief.
  • George shook with anger. "Matthew could have lasted another hour, but now he's gone, all because of you. You've killed him!"
  • Ethan glanced at Leah. Normally, he wouldn't bother to pay attention to her, but he did care about the pure form.
  • "You can't just trust the machines. Alternative medicine is profound and extensive, far beyond the few hundred years of history Western medicine has."
  • "Ethan!" Leah couldn't hear him out, grabbing a knife from the table, her eyes blazing with anger. "The sin of killing my father is unforgivable!"
  • Ethan quickly dodged. "Just wait another five minutes. This is called breath cultivation ... "
  • "Humph!" Suddenly, a furious grunt came from outside the door. "Another five minutes and he will be dead!"
  • Everyone froze for a moment, then they saw an elderly man with white hair but a youthful appearance, radiating an aura of immortality, being escorted in by the Kings.
  • "Dr. Lowe!"
  • In an instant, hope ignited in everyone. Claudia woke up and burst into tears upon seeing Dr. Lowe.
  • "Dr. Lowe, please save Matthew."
  • Ignoring everyone else, Isaac hurriedly pulled Claudia aside.
  • "Claudia, don't worry. For the sake of your father, the former Medicine God, I'll do everything I can."
  • Claudia's father had assisted Isaac in sourcing rare medicinal herbs, contributing significantly to his reputation as a genius doctor.
  • Approaching the bedside, Isaac shot Ethan a fierce glare.
  • The servants of the Kings had briefed him on the situation, leading to his exceedingly hostile attitude towards Ethan.
  • "Hmph! What nonsense.
  • "Get lost!"
  • Ethan furrowed his brow. He could tolerate Leah, but that didn't mean he would tolerate anyone else's rudeness.
  • "Hey!" Just then, a fair hand grabbed Ethan's arm.
  • Turning his head, he saw it was Penny.
  • "Come here."
  • Penny pulled Ethan aside, still gentle as ever.
  • But the previous "Mr. Bennett" had now turned into a curt "Hey."
  • Clearly, Penny was also disappointed in Ethan.
  • Beside the sickbed, Isaac reached over and took Matthew's arm to check his pulse.
  • On closer examination, it was clear that Matthew's left hand only had three fingers, with the other two visibly amputated.
  • Moreover, a long scar ran from his abdomen up to his neck.
  • While Isaac took his pulse, he berated Ethan.
  • "You deceitful trash! Matthew had a car accident five years ago, losing not only his fingers but also suffering severe external injuries. The most critical issue is his internal injuries.
  • "And you, you worthless fool! Despite his severe internal injuries, you still hit him? And you have the nerve to claim you were treating him? Do you even understand anything about healing? Where did you come from, you b*stard?"
  • The final sentence creased Ethan's brow, his eyes suddenly turned sharp.
  • Penny was startled by Ethan's sudden fierceness, but her intuition as a woman compelled her to hold onto Ethan tightly.
  • Hearing about the car accident from Dr. Lowe, the Kings' faces turned sombre. Five years ago, that brutal crash took the lives of many people. The fact that Matthew had managed to cling to life was seen as a miracle.
  • Yet, was this forcibly sustained life finally reaching its limit today?
  • Leah bit her lip, recalling how her father had always doted on her. She couldn't bear to lose him.
  • "Dr. Lowe, I beg you to save my father. If you can revive him, I'll agree to the marriage proposal for your grandson that was turned down last time!"
  • Isaac, still berating Ethan, felt his hand tremble with joy.
  • Leah was the beloved belle of Emberhold. His grandson had been infatuated with her to the point of neglecting everything else.
  • After his proposal was rejected, he had been devastated, looking like a frost-bitten eggplant for a whole year. He made Dr. Lowe worried sick as a grandfather.
  • "Hehe, alright, alright, Leah, even if you didn't ask, I'd still do everything I can to save your dad. But if I can sweeten the deal a bit, that'd be even better, of course."
  • The old man was clearly feeling proud of himself now.
  • "Perfect timing, I've just recently mastered the first six needles of the legendary Nine Divine Needles. Let Matthew be the first one to benefit from it, and I promise he'll bounce back after the treatment!"
  • Without wasting any more words, Isaac quickly took out his silver needles.
  • After checking Matthew's pulse, he was puzzled. Despite Matthew not breathing, his body seemed strangely robust.
  • But for his grandson's happiness, he brushed aside any reservations and began needling right away.
  • However, as soon as the first silver needle pierced in.
  • Beep beep!
  • The machine unexpectedly started beeping, and all the readings soared rapidly!
  • Meanwhile, Ethan glanced at the time. Five minutes had passed.
  • "He's alive! He's alive!" George exclaimed in ecstatic admiration.
  • "Dr. Lowe is amazing. The moment he put in the needle, he brought him back to life. Unbelievable, simply unbelievable."
  • The other experts were also thrilled. "Western medicine is trash, alternative medicine is awesome! It's unbelievable, simply unbelievable!"
  • The Kings were ecstatic too.
  • "Dr. Lowe, thank you so much! We'll always be grateful for your immense kindness!"
  • The room resounded with joy.
  • Meanwhile, Isaac, in the midst of administering the needles, was puzzled. He looked around in disbelief, wondering why it wasn't going as the legends had said.
  • Isn't it supposed to show results after the sixth needle?
  • Could it be ... I'm a genius? Do I grasp the essence of the Nine Divine Needles on my first try?
  • But now that the patient was alive, Isaac didn't dwell on it. He quickly proceeded to administer the remaining five needles he remembered.
  • Watching all the readings return to normal, Isaac joyfully finished the treatment.
  • My grandson's happiness is secured!
  • Matthew slowly woke up, though his eyes still held the confusion of just waking.
  • "He's alive, he's really alive!" Claudia and Leah cried tears of joy. "Dr. Lowe, thank you so much."
  • Isaac waved his hand. "It's a shame that the last three needles techniques of the Nine Divine Needles are lost. Otherwise, I would have been confident enough to have Matthew do somersaults."
  • As he spoke, Isaac glanced at the position Matthew was in, set by Ethan.
  • "What's with this posture? He should be lying flat to allow the needles to work more effectively."
  • Saying this, Isaac moved to lay Matthew flat.
  • "You old man, why are you messing with the position I set up? Got nothing else to do?"
  • Suddenly, Ethan stood with arms crossed and a calm expression.
  • "I told you to keep him like this for another five minutes. The time isn't up yet. Why are you interfering? Can't control yourself?"
