Chapter 4 Aunt's Trust

  • Penny's complexion was envied by many women—delicately fair with a hint of rosiness.
  • "Mr. Bennett, my chest still hurts a bit. You must have something that can help, right?"
  • "Uh ... " Ethan hurriedly waved his hand. "Ms. King, that method can only be used once a day, and like I mentioned, it only gives temporary relief.
  • "If you want a lasting solution, you'll need acupuncture. But I had rushed down the mountain and forgot my silver needles."
  • Ethan pointed at her thigh and added, "Besides, right now, your priority should be to rest up and get your strength back."
  • "Aunt Penny, I think you shouldn't rely on him. He's just trying to take advantage of the situation," Leah said coldly.
  • "Leah, maybe he can really help your dad. Let's hurry and get going," Penny urged.
  • Leah huffed dismissively. She could never trust that troublemaker!
  • Nevertheless, she soon followed her aunt's advice and drove to the King Residence.
  • As soon as Leah stepped out of the car, the servants nearby hurried to greet her.
  • "Welcome back, Miss!"
  • "Leah, we missed you!" Even the children of the servants adored Leah.
  • Leah's attitude was totally different when she faced Ethan. She smiled warmly at them, her smile as gentle as sunlight.
  • This made Ethan smirk. She treated the servants so well, showing she was a kind person, yet she had such a big issue with him.
  • But she had the pure form, exactly what he needed most.
  • What a rough start.
  • What should I do next?
  • At that moment, Ethan felt like he was staring at a mountain ...
  • "Matthew, please don't die! Matthew!"
  • Just as Ethan was thinking about it, cries came from inside the villa.
  • "Dad?" Leah's face went pale as she hurried inside, followed by Penny, leaning on her cane.
  • Ethan sighed and caught up with them.
  • His master had once said, "There's only one pure form in a hundred years."
  • Now, only Leah could save his life.
  • To be honest, whether he'd live or die didn't matter much to him.
  • But his seniors had treated him like family since he was young. At the very least, he needed to stay alive until they got through this crisis.
  • In a room at the villa, a group of private doctors were running around like ants in a hot pan, looking worried and desperate.
  • "Quick, save him!" a beautiful woman beside the sickbed exclaimed anxiously.
  • The beauty was Claudia Wood, Leah's mother. Her figure was graceful and her skin was fair and tender, traits clearly passed down to Leah.
  • On the sickbed lay a man with a square face, at the age of forty-three but looking like he was in his sixties now.
  • He was Leah's father, Matthew.
  • His face was turning purple, almost black.
  • Various instruments attached to him were beeping loudly.
  • The situation was extremely critical!
  • The car accident five years ago really took a toll on him.
  • "Mrs. King, this is H-type adrenaline, the latest thing from the Terranova. If we give it to Mr. King now, it could give him an hour to hold on until Dr. Lowe arrives," said a man in a white coat, holding a syringe filled with red liquid.
  • He was the hospital director, a doctor who had returned from overseas, and also Matthew's old classmate.
  • "Then let's do it. Quick! We have to keep him alive until Dr. Lowe gets here!" urged Claudia, the beautiful woman, as hope filled the room with everyone else present.
  • Isaac Lowe—a name that brought renewed hope to everyone who heard it.
  • He was one of the top five-star miracle doctors in the Tricentral Provinces, renowned for his brilliant achievements in curing diabetes, a global challenge.
  • Everyone knew diabetes was hard to cure, but Isaac made it easy!
  • "Dad!" Leah burst into the room, tears in her eyes at the sight of her father.
  • Claudia hurried to stop her and explain the situation.
  • "Wait! Don't give him the injection!"
  • But suddenly, Ethan strode in and shouted, grabbing George Ferguson's wrist firmly.
  • "If you inject that, it'll only worsen his condition!"
  • "Who the hell are you? Don't you realise we're racing against time here?" a young doctor snapped angrily.
  • "Kid ... " George looked Ethan up and down, noticing his patched-up appearance. "Do you know anything about medicine?"
  • "A little," Ethan replied calmly. He approached the bedside, laid his hand on Matthew's wrist, and took his pulse.
  • A lingering old injury!
  • Leah was about to speak up, but George frowned and asked, "Which school did you graduate from?"
  • Leah pulled Ethan aside and said to George, "Don't mind him. He's just a lecherous monkey who came down from the mountains, a troublemaker. Please hurry and give my dad the injection."
  • She believed more in Dr. Isaac, who had a solid reputation.
  • "A lecherous monkey? A troublemaker?" Ethan was baffled.
  • My dear master, seniors, look. This is the pure form that can save my life.
  • What do we do now ...
  • Beep, beep, beep!
  • Just then, the instruments connected to Matthew started beeping urgently.
  • "Oh no, his heart rate's dropping!"
  • "His blood pressure's falling!"
  • "His pulse is weak, he's slipping away!"
  • Doctors panicked and shouted frantically, chaos erupting in the room.
  • Claudia shouted anxiously, "Mr. Ferguson ... "
  • "I've already started the injection!" George said, about to insert the needle.
  • Snap!
  • Suddenly, a large hand knocked the syringe away, shattering it on the floor.
  • The room fell silent ...
  • "Are you out of your mind? There are only five doses of this serum in the entire world!" George was completely frantic.
  • "I told you, if you inject that, he will undoubtedly die," Ethan said firmly.
  • "Am I giving you face here? You d*mn country bumpkin from the middle of nowhere, what do you know about medicine? Who gave you the right to interfere?" George snapped angrily.
  • Tears streamed down Leah's face. "You're harming my dad ... "
  • Claudia also yelled, demanding someone do something about Ethan.
  • "Everyone, stop!" Penny finally entered, leaning on her cane.
  • "Mr. Bennett is a doctor, my lifesaver. I can vouch for his medical skills," she affirmed.
  • "He said not to give the injection, so there must be a good reason."
  • "Penny, are you kidding? Trust him?" Claudia snapped angrily.
  • "Then do you have any other ideas?" Penny pushed back firmly. "The adrenaline's gone, Matthew is in critical condition. If we don't trust him, what else can we do?"
  • Her words stunned everyone, followed by furious looks directed at Ethan.
  • "Trust me, let him treat Matthew!" Penny looked at Ethan with unwavering confidence.
  • "Don't worry, I won't claim I can handle everything, but there's no illness in this world I can't cure."
  • Ethan helped Matthew sit up on the hospital bed.
  • Penny breathed a sigh of relief at Ethan's words and smiled.
  • Tears welled up in Leah's eyes, but at this point, all she could do was pray.
  • She prayed that Ethan truly had the medical skills to save her father's life.
  • If he could, she would apologise to Ethan in gratitude.
  • She would give him whatever he asked for.
  • As long as her father could recover, she was willing to give everything!
  • But after Ethan helped Matthew sit upright, he raised his hand high.
  • "What are you doing, kid?" the Kings exclaimed in surprise.
  • Penny quickly stepped forward.
  • "Just trust him. Mr. Bennett was able to accurately diagnose my heart condition before and even helped me manage it without surgery.
  • "Mr. Bennett, he's truly a genius doctor ... "
  • Smack!
  • Before Penny could finish her sentence, a loud slap echoed through the room.
  • Ethan's raised palm struck Matthew's face hard.
  • The slap left Penny stunned.
  • Genius doctor?
  • But it didn't end there. Ethan lifted his foot.
  • Thud!
  • With one kick, Matthew flew off the hospital bed, crashing violently into the wall and coughing up blood.
  • Claudia was almost frantic. She turned to Penny in anger and shouted, "Penny, is this your so-called genius doctor?"
  • Penny's scalp tingled, her vision darkened, and she nearly collapsed.
  • She trust him in vain!
  • Leah clenched her fists tightly, her face turning pale.
  • Her cheeks flushed red with anger.
  • She trembled uncontrollably all over.
  • What was I thinking just now?
  • Apologise to him? Give him whatever he asked for?
  • Ridiculous!
  • Finally, she erupted,
  • "I'll never forgive you for as long as I live!"
