Chapter 3

  • ♧ Ryn’s pov ♧
  • Civilians were already roaming at the crime scene when we had arrived there. I removed the seat belt and put on my duty belt. I placed the firearm, knife and taser gun securely in the belt and opened the door to get out.
  • Nate and I weren't the only officers present and I wondered why they hadn't taken precautions with the roaming people, they could jeopardize the case. Nate was beside me as I grip my damp long tresses and bring it to cover my breast.
  • "You really think that hair could block your melons from prying eyes?" Nate laughed softly making me glare at him sideways. It was true though I was well equipped in that area and it would be easily noticeable if they looked.
  • I didn't bother answering as we reached the two officers who were looming over the two dead bodies in the street. I looked at the deceased males and noticed that they were probably in their late thirties.
  • "Officer Davis information please." I spoke making him lift up his head from the body to look at me. His eyes widened slightly before he composed himself.
  • "We have no witnesses and no one knows how those bodies got here. There are two bullet chest wounds on their bodies. But we haven't investigated further." He claimed and averted his eyes back to the corpse. His partner's gloved hands turned the bodies making an ace of spades card visible. Nate turned to look at me already knowing what I was thinking.
  • My jaw clenched when it finally clicked. This was the work of the Reeds, they were called the dragons and was the most feared mafia in the world. Those two dead men must've been from another gang judging by the snake tattoos on their necks.
  • This was for sure the work of Ace, that fucking asshole always left those cards when he committed the crime. He left them there as a way to let me know it was him and to mock me.
  • "Are the bodies cold officer?" I asked. He looked up confused before checking the temperature of the bodies.
  • He nodded "Yes."
  • It meant that those men had been dead a long time ago and it also meant that they probably weren't killed here but somewhere else. I sighed before looking around. Ace really knew how to cover up his tracks.
  • A slight movement from a small shop before me had my attention brought to it. I looked through the glass doors to see a plump man looking at the scene. His eyes diverted quickly when he realized I was observing him.
  • Nate saw my line of vision and raised his eyebrows at me. I nodded to the shop and we both proceeded to the frightened looking man. When we entered I noticed how the older man's body tensed up at our arrival.
  • He was behind the counter and rather looked flustered in an uneasy way. His light peach shirt he wore was now soaked with sweat as he passed his hand on his forehead to wipe off the moisture.
  • "How can I help you officers?" He stuttered before clearing his throat. I looked around the small grocery shop and noticed how it was empty.
  • Nate walked up to him and started asking questions while my gaze seemed to be stuck on the door to my right. I hadn't failed to notice how the man kept glancing at it in jittery.
  • "Where is that door leading to sir?" I asked. If it were possible his already tense body became more rigid.
  • "Uh it leads to the back alley." He stuttered. I hummed as I saunter towards it.
  • "Nate ask him questions and take notes on it!" I called out as I opened the door.
  • "Wait don't you want back up?" Nate rushed out. He's eyes kept shifting from the nervous man and to me. I shook my head no and gave him a smile trying to ease his anxiety.
  • "I'm just going to have a look, I'm armed if anything goes wrong. " I claimed and pointed at my duty belt that held my equipment. He nodded reluctantly before I turned around to go out the door.
  • It banged when it closed creating a loud sound that irritated me. The man was right, it led to an alleyway that was empty. I walked forward and assessed the area. My eyes looked around for anything out of the ordinary and before I knew it I was far from the shop I came out of.
  • Something white caught my line of vision and I stepped towards it to have a better look. I stooped down to pick up another ace of spades card and crumble it up in my hands. That dick was playing with me.
  • (Now that's not very nice.)
  • "Ora non è molto carino." A rough voice snorted behind me. I quickly stood up and turned around to face the owner of that voice.
  • A scowl set on my face as a very intimidating looking Ace stood before me with a cocked eyebrow. My hands instinctively reach out for my gun in my belt. The action didn't go unnoticed by him but he didn't seem to be fazed.
  • "Ah officer Waters, pleasure meeting you again." He smirked revealing his straight white teeth.
  • It wasn't the first time I had come in contact with him, this probably was the thirtieth time or more since I've been trying to take down him and his family. My face turned sour as a strong breeze flew my hair backwards. My hardened nipples could be detected through the thin material of the uniform.
  • His blueish green eyes instantly settled on my breast area before he gave out a cocky smile. I pushed my hair back to cover it and let out an angry curse.
  • "Eyes up here asshole!" I gritted out as I took out the gun and aimed it at him.
  • He had the audacity to laugh before raising his hands in mock surrender.
  • "You're coming with me." I spoke up. He snorted before shaking his head.
  • "Yeah I don't think so darling." He uttered and let his gaze roam over my body. His eyes darkened when they had settled on my chest.
  • He wasn't the same tall young lanky boy anymore. What stood before me was now a grown man who by first glance you would think he was a greek god by his enchanting looks. But what lies beneath his handsome face was nothing but a cold hearted murderer.
