Chapter 38

• The moment we pulled in behind Tristan’s ride and killed our engines, I knew immediately that something wasn’t right.
• Lucas was already out his door but he stood still, waiting for everyone to head out. I turned to Nicolas and told him to wait behind before letting myself out the door and slamming the car door shut. Tristan was already out of his car by the time I got to his side and together we made our way onto the stairs leading into the house.
• The first thing that caught my attention was the knife edge sticking out of the door, which means someone must have left it there before closing the door and exiting the compound or someone pierced it in there before going out through one of the numerous windows of the house.
