Chapter 7 Fiancé Candidate
- I was lost in thought for a moment, unaware of what kind of imagination I had provoked in Kevin.
- I heard him snort coldly, wiping the blood off his head with a tissue.
- "As long as you obediently come with me to explain the shareholding matters to the shareholders, I might still give you some face—not let you become the talk of others. Also, you can’t cause trouble for Tiffany anymore!"
- Kevin looked smugly at me, as if he was certain I wouldn’t leave him.
- Ridiculous. Who gave him that confidence?
- "I made it very clear—we're done. Don’t you understand?"
- I threw the tissue in my hand away and walked straight to the office door.
- "You're just used-up goods that I've played with! How dare you speak to me like this?"
- Hearing this, I couldn’t help but smile. Before leaving, I thought I should kindly remind Kevin, so I stopped at the door.
- Seeing me stop, Kevin immediately changed his tone.
- "Lynn, I know you have a grudge against me, but after all, we've been together for so long..."
- I didn’t have time to listen to his rambling, so I interrupted him directly:
- "By the way, remember to take the company public within the limited time—or you’ll have to compensate me with 5 billion. You haven’t forgotten, have you?"
- I thought this sentence would be enough to make Kevin see the situation clearly, but I didn’t expect him to suddenly burst into laughter, as if he had gone crazy.
- "Do you think I can’t do anything without you? Let me tell you, I just came here today to go through the motions with you. Do you really think I care about the shares in your hands? Since you value this company so much—then it’s yours!"
- Kevin walked toward me, holding a share transfer document in his hand. It clearly stated that he was transferring all his shares to me—and his signature had already been added at some point.
- "Kevin, you're shameless!"
- How could I have signed such a document? Had he been waiting for this day?
- With this document, all the bet agreements were null and void. I now held 70% of the company’s shares. Naturally, I had no relationship with him anymore.
- "Yes, I’ve been waiting for the day I could finally cut ties with you! Did you really think I needed you to succeed? Do you know how much Tiffany has helped me? The Clark Group invested a billion in me to start a new company. Since this company is your hard work, you can have it—I don’t want it!"
- Kevin laughed maniacally, but I didn’t react as he expected. I just calmly watched him go crazy in front of me.
- "I thought you raised funds based on your own abilities. Turns out you still rely on women. How is this any different from when I invested in you in the beginning?"
- This statement successfully provoked Kevin. He was a typical male chauvinist—caring about his reputation and hating being accused of living off a woman.
- "The difference is that I can make decisions for myself—not constantly rely on you! I’m a man! Why should I have to listen to you for everything?"
- Hearing this, I could only smile. Advising him to do the right thing seemed to him like an attack on his masculinity. I had nothing more to say.
- "The shareholders of the company are willing to go with me. Since you want it, you can have it!"
- After saying this, I left the company without looking back. My mother was sick in bed, and I didn’t have the energy to deal with him any longer.
- Back at home, I sat wearily on the sofa. Anna handed me a cup of revitalizing tea, which I drank without hesitation.
- "You won’t marry Kevin, so maybe you should meet the person I arranged for you to marry."
- My father sat on the other side, wearing glasses and reading the financial news.
- As soon as marriage was mentioned, I couldn’t help but think of Kevin’s betrayal. People who have been together for so long eventually betray each other—let alone someone introduced to me. Will they also stab me in the back?
- Even though I had no interest in such matters now, I couldn’t bear to see my parents age ten years because of my stubbornness. I couldn’t bring myself to refuse.
- "Okay, you can arrange it."
- It didn’t matter who it was—I wouldn’t invest any more emotions. They would just be a business partner I’d share a bed with in the future.
- Upon hearing my response, my father actually smiled. He quickly asked Anna to prepare clothes for me.
- "It’s really not easy. Looks like I have to thank Kevin. If it weren’t for him, you wouldn’t have come home—and you wouldn’t be so obedient."
- Listening to my father’s teasing words, I couldn’t help but smile bitterly. And uncontrollably, that man's face appeared in my mind again—along with his question, "Am I handsome?"
- Well... I have to admit—he is a good-looking man.
- "What’s the name of the man I’m engaged to?"
- It seems I still don’t know the name of the person I’m supposed to marry.
- "He’s the heir of the Davis family—named Kris. Just like you, he’s capable. You should like someone like him."
- "Kris..." I repeated the name.
- I’d heard of him—the man who single-handedly built his business empire in Vanderholt and gradually expanded internationally, making people admire him... and feel intimidated at the same time.
- Thinking that this man was my fiancé—I couldn’t help but feel a bit surreal.
- After all, the difference between Kevin and Kris was like the distance from Mohe to Rome. Really... worlds apart.
- "I just asked Kris, and he happens to be relatively free this time. How about meeting in the Sky Garden next weekend? What do you think?"
