- Elijah’s brother wasn’t one for patience. He barely waited before stepping closer, his eyes narrowing in on me. “Funny, isn’t it?” His words cut through the tension like a knife, each syllable deliberate. “Family always shows up when you least want it.”
- I was tired of this already. “I don’t care who you are or what your problem is with Elijah. What do you want?” My voice came out sharp, unforgiving, but I didn’t care. There was no time for this.
