- “Elijah didn’t show up,” Kara’s voice was barely above a whisper, but the frustration in her tone was undeniable.
- I wiped the blood off my blade, my chest still heaving from the fight. The clearing was littered with the aftermath—wolves loyal to Elijah, now on the ground, either unconscious or struggling to stand. But no Elijah. The man always seemed to be one step ahead, watching from the shadows while others did his dirty work.
