Chapter 4

  • I took slow steps backwards and picked up the grocery bags I left before. I continued walking backwards so I would know if he's following me.
  • When I was finally out of the alley, I used my my clothes to ckean my finger print off the gun before throwing it into a trashcan.
  • After that, I ran home without looking back nor stopping to take a breather. I'll never oass through an alley anymore.
  • *************************
  • When I was close to my apartment, I took slow steps and watched behind me to see if someone was tailing me.
  • When I was sure I wasn't been followed, I entered my apartment and closed my apartment door securely.
  • I was finally able to breath properly. That was a very close call. Who would have thought that someone like that would end up being a killer.
  • And to think I called him handsome. Like they always say, don't judge a book by it's cover.
  • "But really? Is what he said true? Did that guy actually try to kill him? Shouldn't I report this to the police? I just witnessed a murder." I wondered.
  • No way, I can't get myself involved again. I barely managed to escape today. What if I get in trouble for reporting?
  • "But that guy murdered an innocent man." My conscience reminded me.
  • "He wasn't really innocent. The cute guy said that the dead man tried to kill him. I should better mind my business." I tried to shake off any feeling of guilt I was feeling.
  • The police will find out one way or another. What I need to focus on now is how I'll get a new job because there's no way I'll ever work in that company.
  • I picked up the grocery bags and placed them on the counter. Thankfully, I was able to get them back.
  • If not, only God knows how I'll be able to survive because I'm out of cash now. I arranged everything I bought in the fridge and proceeded to make breakfast.
  • ***********************************
  • I burped lowly in satisfaction. Now I'm filled, I need to find a new job.
  • I brought out my laptop and started scrolling through it. I was looking for any job opening.
  • I was only able to find a spot at a bar as a server. I chuckled when I saw the name. 'DEVIL'S EYE CLUB' It sounded really dumb.
  • I hesitated first before I clicked on it and read through the contents.
  • My eyes widened when I saw the amount they pay servers.
  • "One thousand dollars a week." I almost screamed.
  • What type of bar pays that huge amount to just servers??
  • If they pay servers that large amount, what about the strippers??
  • I double checked to see if the spot is really a server or a stripper. It was the same.
  • Thankfully, I didn't need to strip or dress in nude outfits. It was just like a restaurant's job.
  • "But what if they change their mind once I get the job?" I wondered.
  • "I won't know unless I try it. Besides, I can always quit if it isn't favourable." I said to myself before applying for an interview.
  • I filled in my details on the mail they sent me. It wasn't long before they replied. They asked me to come for an interview around 5 pm this evening.
  • I accepted before dropping my laptop. I prayed within myself so I could get this job. It is my last hope.
  • If not, Mrs. Martha would throw me out of this apartment. I checked the time on my phone on my screen.
  • It's still 11 Am in the morning.
  • I stood up from the couch and decided to take a short nap. I landed with a soft thud on the bed. It didn't take long before I drifted off to sleep.
  • *************************
  • ~DEVIL'S EYE CLUB~
  • Grey was scrolling through the applicants for the job opening when something caught his eyes. He smiled when he saw her name.
  • "I didn't think it would be this easy to find you Selina Cortez. The boss would be very proud." He muttered before sending her an invitation for the job interview.
  • **************************
  • ~LATER IN THE EVENING~
  • I took my bath and put on a new outfit consisting of a short crock top, pleated mini skirt and a pair of sneakers.
  • I stood in front of the mirror and smiled. No one can be able to tell I'm twenty-four years old. I can easily pass as a teenager like this.
  • "Wait, is this outfit suitable?" I asked myself.
  • Well, there isn't a dress code for a job at a bar. I packed my blonde hair into a messy bun and smiled. I'm really endowed with beauty, I can't even deny it. Too bad I can't take good care of it.
  • I sighed and put a baseball cap over my head. I picked up a small purse and my phone. I locked the door to the apartment.
  • Since I spent my last cash on food, I guess I'll have to walk. Thankfully, I got ready wuite early so it would only take me thirty minutes to get there.
  • I checked the time on my phone. This is just 4:17. I brought out my ear pods and connected it to my phone before placing it in my ear.
  • I smiled as the beat of the song started playing in my ear.
  • **************************
  • ~DEVIL'S EYE~
  • I stopped tiredly in front of the huge building and smiled when I saw the name of the club written at the front.
  • Finally.
  • I was about to enter when a rough looking guy stopped me.
  • "Do you have the club's id?" His gruff voice sounded.
  • I think he's a guard here.
  • "No. But I'm here for the interview." I answered.
  • "Your name?" He asked again.
  • "Selina.. Selina Cortez." I replied.
  • "Follow me." He said and I obeyed.
  • The club was some what empty. Probably because it's not yet night time.
  • We walked for a while before he stopped in front of a closed room.
  • "Go in." He muttered before leaving
  • I hesitated at first. It felt really weird. I had a really bad feeling about this.
  • "It's just a job interview. What could go wrong?" I wondered before knocking.
  • There was no response so I knocked again. Still the same thing. I decided to go in like that.
  • I entered the room cautiously. I was really dark so I decided to looked for the light switch and put on the lights.
  • I almost stopped breathing when I saw his hazel eyes staring at me darkly.
  • "No no no.."
  • I wanted to run out but someone locked the door from outside.
  • "Let me out!!!" I screamed in fear.
  • He sat down calmly on his seat and watched trying my best to escape.
  • "Please let me out!!!" I screamed louder.
  • "Don't waste your voice princess. Because no one will come for you." He said with a smirk dancing on his lips.
