Chapter 7
- This is where she is now. In a room with mostly white walls, the smell of medicine, though masked by air freshener, still has a rather unpleasant quality. There were a few medical devices on one of the stacking shelves at one of the edges of the bed. And let's not forget the monitor that had just been used to check. Against whom? Who else could it be, if not Miya Ashton?
- "Everything looks good," the middle-aged female doctor said gently, looking at Miya with a reassuring smile. The exam results show that your uterus is in good health and there are no abnormalities or problems to worry about.
- Miya nodded slowly, although she was still feeling a bit anxious. She kept her eyes fixed on the monitor showing the results of the examination, as if she needed to see it again to believe what she had just heard. "I'm healthy," she told herself.
- "So, what does that mean?" Miya finally spoke up, her voice a little shaky.
- "This means you're good to go if you want to have kids. Your body is in great shape for getting pregnant," the doctor said in a reassuring tone. "You and..." Sarah Paulina, the obstetrician, gave the man in the black suit sitting nearby a quick glance. "Mr. Sawyer has nothing to worry about." This process should go smoothly with the right attention and care. "I'll suggest some fertility-boosting vitamins for you."
- Miya took a deep breath to let the information sink in. "Thanks for the explanation, Doctor," she said, trying to calm down.
- "We'll be in touch regularly, Miya. I hope you're comfortable with me coming by."
- On the plus side, she was being supervised by a warm and friendly doctor. She'd met doctors who talked too much, didn't explain things clearly, and seemed a bit stiff when giving her information.
- "I'm happy to have you as my doctor, Sarah."
- Sarah smiled and made a point of smoothing out the file the man in the black shirt wanted. "Mr. Alex, these are the results of the exam that Mr. Sawyer requested. I'll also give him a call right away to go over the results of this afternoon's exam."
- "Yes, Doctor." The man named Alex got the file right away so he could give it to his boss. When it comes to the master, nothing should be left out. That means making sure there's tight security if this blonde-haired girl is outside the mansion area. Aelx didn't dare ask questions like that, even though he was quite curious.
- Who is this girl? It was unusual for Damian Sawyer to take a girl captive in one of his residences. But Alex didn't feel like asking questions, especially about his master's personal affairs.
- "So, is this hospital business done?" Alex asked as he stood up. Sarah nodded in response.
- Miya could only smile and accept her fate. She couldn't linger in this room, could she? "Alright," she said, grabbing the long coat that was draped over the back of the chair. "Excuse me."
- "I hope we have the chance to meet again soon."
- Miya's smile was still on her face. If they met again, that would mean... There's a chance Miya could be pregnant. Oh, talking about being pregnant gave her goose bumps. Miya wasn't sure if she should be grateful or if this was a bad thing.
- Last night.
- As Victor left Miya, he asked the staff to take care of the blonde girl. Then, his phone rang. Miya didn't pay much attention until Victor yelled, and then everyone nearby turned to look.
- "How did that happen, Marcus?" Damian's already been informed.
- "..."
- "I'll be right there." Victor ended the call quickly and said loudly, "Josh, get my bike ready. Could you also bring the two katanas into my training room? And some of the people on standby here, let's head over there. Give Ricardo a call and ask him to head over to the Catterpilar Club. Damian's waiting there, so try to get there within five minutes."
- Josh, who immediately went over to Victor, looked at the brown-haired man with surprise. "What's going on, Mr. Victor?"
- "Kenzo was killed at the border."
- Josh looked at Victor with disbelief. "Kenzo... Was he working with Mr. Marcus? He... died?"
- "He's still breathing, but he's in bad shape. Let's hope he makes it, otherwise Marcus could cause us a lot of problems." Victor rolled up the sleeves of his shirt.
- "Let's get a move on and get ready. Make sure we don't leave anyone behind."
- He quickly left the mansion but, as if he'd just had a revelation, he turned back. He walked over to where Miya was sitting.
- Miya was taken aback by Victor's sudden movements and the somewhat alarming conversation. She subtly edged towards the corner of the sofa. "What's up, Mr. Victor?"
- "Don't ever leave this building, no matter what. I've asked Desi and Alex to keep an eye on you. Damian doesn't like it when his team members don't follow instructions."
- Miya let out a low growl of frustration. "I know."
- "You're lucky, Miya. It's possible that Damian won't see you for the next few days. But when he has free time, be ready." Victor spoke, his eyes fixed on Miya's frightened gaze. "Do you understand?"
- Miya just nodded in reply.
- Victor quickly left again this time with a few men in black uniforms. They were tall and looked quite sinister. The man named Josh was carrying the two white sheathed katanas that Victor had requested.
- "What do you think they're going to do?" Miya asked, confused.
- "They've got some pretty risky business on their hands," Desi says as she puts a cup of chamomile tea down for Miya. She'd also got some snacks ready for the evening. "I'm not really sure what Miss Miya likes. But I'm trying to make you comfortable."
- Miya couldn't help but smile. "This is more than enough, thank you."
- "I've also asked the chef to prepare dinner for you. Is that okay with you?"
- Miya shook her head right away. "You're very thoughtful."
- "It's my job to serve you, Miss Miya."
- "You mentioned they had some risky business on the go. What... is it something that could affect someone's life?" Miya asked, sounding cautious. She was curious about a lot of things. Victor's conversation with the other person made her uneasy. On top of that, the item brought by the man named Josh. Miya was aware of what it was and what it was used for. If a swordsman had these two items in his hands, they could be very dangerous.
- "You might be better off ignoring what you just heard. I can only reiterate what I said before."
- Miya let out a little chuckle at that. She picked up her teacup and took a sip, glancing at the girl standing nearby with a look of distaste. She had a flat face and seemed to lack expression, and she came across as a bit stiff in her demeanor. Even though she was wearing a typical waitress uniform, Desi was used to working deftly.
- The tea Miya was enjoying tasted pretty good, and it helped to ease some of the anxiety she was feeling. The snacks are just right for a taste test. Miya was certain the meal being prepared would rival the quality of a five-star restaurant. It seems that Miya should also get used to it.
- She's already here, so there's no way out except to follow the terms of the contract.
- "You're scheduled to meet with the gynecologist tomorrow, Miss Miya."
- Miya turned her head to look at Desi, her forehead wrinkled in confusion. "What did you say?"
- "Mr. Damian wants to do your final exam, including the gynecological stuff.
- Miya's face turned red, and she felt a sudden rush of embarrassment. Damian's request was reasonable, given the terms of the contract. However, there were some concerns. "Why didn't he loop me in first?"
- "Just a heads-up: if you forget, you're banned from using cell phones here."
- Miya's eyes lit up with excitement. "Are you crazy?" She stood up and asked for the phone that was in Desi's hand. One thing Miya couldn't ignore was the cell phone. Even though she knew what the contract was about, Miya also didn't want to contact anyone. In particular, she didn't contact Tessa. There was no way she could tell the truth about the quickest way out of her problem. On the bright side, she could see what was going on outside, especially when it came to the news about her.
- She also noticed that the bag she always kept close by was missing. The memory of it was left in Victor's study. "Damn it!" she exclaimed. "Give me yours. I need to speak with your rather eccentric boss."
- "You can't call when Mr. Damian has business to take care of."
- "I'll just be a minute." Miya was insistent. "Let's get on with it."
- "No, Ms. Miya." Desi put her phone away right away. "Please, go back to enjoying your tea and snacks. Excuse me a moment while I check on your dinner preparations."
- Miya was taken aback. "Or, I could give Mr. Victor a quick call. I need to speak with him."
- Desi just turned her head and gave a little smile while shaking her head. "Is there anything you need to tell Mr. Victor?"
- Oh, no! Miya seems upset tonight.
- Back to the situation where Miya followed Alex's steps who walked with a wary attitude. Miya was surprised but didn't want to ask. Miya was still mulling over the issue of communication that had been restricted by Damian. So, during the contract period, Miya was in a different civilization from other humans? That's right.
- "Please, Miss," Alex opened the door for Miya in the rear passenger seat. Miya just nodded and sat down to make herself comfortable. Before Alex returned to the driver's seat, Miya said.
- "I want to go to Hillarious University. I left my stuff there."
- "We can't, Miss. We must arrive at the mansion immediately. Mr. Damian is waiting for you."
