Chapter 2

  • “How do you expect me to find a wife in just two months? That’s impossible,” Dylan shouted in frustration.
  • “It is possible, Why are you so opposed to women? What’s the matter with you?” his mother retorted angrily, while Dora stepped forward to gently pat her back in an attempt to calm her.
  • “And what if I choose not to, Barrister James?” Dylan asked, turning to face the lawyer, his leg tapping the floor in agitation.
  • “Your inheritance will be passed on to your cousin, Emma,” Barrister James stated, his gaze focused on the will document, avoiding eye contact with Dylan.
  • “That’s incredibly stupid and cruel of my father, why would he have to give me that condition?” Dylan replied angrily, grabbing his phone and storming out of the sitting room, disregarding his mother’s calls.
  • Although Dylan appeared upset by the conditions tied to his inheritance, he knew he had no choice than to comply since he wasn't willing to relinquish his inheritance to his enemy, Emma. Emma is Dylan's cousin, but they have never had a good relationship. He is someone who would never tolerate any disrespect from Dylan and would always confront him whenever Dylan acted rudely in his presence, solidifying their enmity.
  • Dylan didn’t own a company of his own, he had never once considered that his father could impose conditions on him to claim what he thought was rightfully his. He knew he would never want to pass the company to anyone else, the company had been the pillar that defines who he was. The company elevated him to the ranks of the elite, and abandoning it would lead to his downfall, especially since he couldn’t possibly establish a company like Ethan and Son in just two months.
  • Dylan grabbed his phone and messaged his friends to meet him at their usual spot. He needed to take action regarding the marriage as quickly as possible, even if it meant getting a divorce right after the one-year anniversary. He had to get married before the two months were up.
  • “We're not heading home just yet, take me to D and G.” He instructed the driver. D and G is the largest hotel in the country, featuring a nightclub, restaurants offering various cuisines, and all the amenities one would expect from a top-tier hotel. It’s the usual meeting spot for Dylan and his friends, catering to the elite with its high prices.
  • ………….
  • “I need a wife,” Dylan declared to his friends, Davis and Lucas, avoiding gaze with them as they burst into laughter, unable to believe what they were hearing.
  • “I’m serious, guys. I need to get married within the next two months,” he repeated, his voice rising slightly in frustration as his friends exchanged surprised glances.
  • “Why the sudden change of mind. You said you would never get married or even have a mistress, so why change that decision all of a sudden?” Davis asked, resting his elbow on the table and speaking in a serious tone.
  • “You guys are always surrounding yourselves with women, so you should be able to find one for me,” Dylan replied, ignoring Davis's question.
  • “If that’s the case, what about Clara, your secretary?” Lucas suggested, his eyes locked on Dylan, who remained silent, fidgeting with his fingers.
  • Clara Trust is a stunning young and intelligent woman in her late twenties, known for her long, shiny hair that’s always perfectly styled. Her curvy hips and slim waist highlight her beauty. She takes every chance she gets to show Dylan that she has a crush on him, whether it’s through her enchanting smile that could make any man fall for her or by swaying her hips in his direction. Even though Dylan often yells at her for it, she doesn’t let that deter her, she remains hopeful that he might eventually give her a chance.
  • Clara came from a very low-income family, so landing a job at Ethan and Son felt like a stroke of luck for her. Since she started working there, she had her sights set on Dylan, just like nearly every other woman. Her audacity to draw Dylan’s attention to herself was remarkable, especially for someone in her position who would typically be expected to tread carefully to avoid getting fired. Although she did not have the boldness to communicate her feelings to Dylan, she made her feelings really obvious enough that Dylan's friends would tease him about it whenever they had the chance.
  • Her brilliance and work ethic were the reasons Dayla hadn't let her go, he had warned her numerous times to curb her seductive behavior, even threatening to fire her. Yet, the young girl continued to flirt stylishly, though there was a hint of fear in her actions, she remained determined.
  • “Do you think she would agree?” Dylan asked, rolling his eyes.
  • “Of course, that girl likes you, so I think she’d see it as a great chance to finally be with you,” Davis said, a sheepish smile on his face. But it quickly faded when Dylan shot him a warning look. Even though they were friends, they still feared him because he was wealthier than them, and he often ended up paying their bills when they went out to the hotel.
  • “I know this marriage has a purpose, so how long will it last?” Lucas asked, his tone calm and inquisitive.
  • “Actually, I need to get married to keep my inheritance,” Dylan finally admitted, meeting his friends' eyes to gauge their reactions.
  • “And it will end after the one-year anniversary,” he added, leaving his friends in stunned silence, their mouths agape but not daring to speak.
  • “Now that you’ve agreed on Clara, when are you going to talk to her about it?” Davis asked, while Dylan hissed in frustration. He clearly didn’t want to have that conversation himself, feeling like it would be beneath him.
  • “You guys will handle that for me,” Dylan said, his expression serious and his tone commanding.
  • “How?” the guys asked in unison. “You’re the one marrying her,” Davis said, confusion evident in his voice.
  • “Just talk to her for me like you do with every other girl,” Dylan replied, standing up and grabbing his phone and wallet.
  • “If you can’t do that, then consider th
  • is friendship over,” he said again before walking out.
