  • Meanwhile, Laurel was just waking up. Her sleep was not sweet. It was filled with nightmare of how Boss Lucas caught her each time she tried to escape. She flung the pillow away, wincing when it almost yanked her hair out of place.
  • “Ouch!” she cried out. The chocolate bar she ate yesterday night found its way to her head. How it did, Laurel didn’t know. She believed she slept like an angel all night and not like other people who opened their legs while sleeping.
  • Which was not true in any way. Laurel had a bad way of sleeping. Everyone in her family complained about it and they never slept in the same bed with her. It was that bad.
