• I stepped out of the bathroom, completely naked, water dripping onto the worn carpet. I tied up my hair in a white towel and my bare body with a plush, pink towel that lay on the bed.
• On top of the drawer across the room, I grabbed my pack of cigarettes and slipped one out. Lighting it, I sat down, took a long draw and watched the plumes dance in the air until they disappeared. Then I took a deep breath and exhaled.
