Chapter 3 Her Dream Come True

  • Chapter Three
  • Daniella’s POV
  • (Her Dream Come True)
  • “Based on the tests we ran on her and the examination carried out on her, it’s best to say that she needs a lot of rest and a lot of support right now. This is going a very trying time for her. We’re going to have to break the news to her in a way that she would best understand. Anything that would stress her should be kept far away from her right now.”
  • I could hear two people discussing and I could hear an irritating beeping sound in the room that wouldn’t stop.
  • What are they talking about so seriously? And who are they? Was I kidnapped? Or has Luciano D’Angelo abducted me?
  • Oh my God.
  • If that is true then he’s going to kill Rafael for helping me. I need to find a way out of here and find my brother so we can run. I’m sure my brother is looking for me as well.
  • How worried he must have been when I didn’t show up at the planned location.
  • I tried to move but it felt like my body was heavy and glued to the bed. I tried opening my eyes but everywhere was still dark.
  • What is going on? Where is Rafael? I remember I was on my way to see him. Did Luciano get him?
  • I began to panic and the machine began to beep louder, alerting the people discussing inside this dark room.
  • “Miss, please calm down. You’re going to hurt yourself.” A female voice said before I felt her by my side.
  • “Where is my brother please? I need to see him. Is he hurt? And why is everywhere dark? I can’t see anything.” I felt hot tears streaming down my face.
  • “Miss, you met with an accident and unfortunately, the impact was so much that the shards of glass got into your eye and damaged your cornea. I’m so sorry to break this news to you like this but for now, you’ve lost your sight, Miss.”
  • More tears poured out of my eyes at the news, “I’m blind? I can’t see?”
  • “Yes.”
  • I curled myself into a ball in the oddly vast hospital bed and cried for myself. How did I get to this point?
  • “What about my brother? Was there another male in the area? Was somebody there with me? We were meant to meet up at the accident scene. Please tell me he’s safe—-his name is Rafael Moretti. He has dark hair and—-”
  • “There was nobody else at the scene, Miss. The driver you collided with died on the spot and has already been buried.” The nurse cut in.
  • I covered my mouth and shook my head repeatedly, “Oh my God! I killed him.”
  • “No, no, no. It’s not your fault, Miss.” The nurse tried to comfort me.
  • “I killed a man. What have I done? I’m so sorry! My brakes weren’t working.” I tried to explain to no one in particular.
  • “No one is blaming you, Miss.” She tried to comfort me, “Accidents happen all the time and most of the time, no one is to be blamed for it.”
  • “What?”
  • “You lost something too. Please calm down, Miss. You’re worsening your condition.”
  • In the midst of the breakdown I was having, something else struck me, “If my brother wasn’t at the scene then who saved me? Who brought me to the hospital?”
  • I held onto her hands. They were soft. I guess I can only rely on my other senses now.
  • “We’re not at the hospital, Miss. We’re at the house of the man who pulled you out from the crash.” She explained
  • I frowned, “This is not the hospital? What do you mean we’re in the house?” I tore my hand away from hers, “You’re not making any sense. Fetch me the doctor please. He will explain better.”
  • “I am the doctor here, Miss. My name is doctor Lucy.”
  • “You’re not a nurse?” I asked, “I thought you were the nurse.”
  • “I’m a doctor. Not a nurse.”
  • “Can I meet the man who saved me? To at least say thank you so I can be on my way.” I don’t want Luciano D’Angelo to trace me down to this place. They will all be in danger if he finds out they kept me here and looked after me.
  • “No. Get some rest, Miss—-”
  • “Daniella. My name is Daniella.” I’m tired of hearing her call me miss. It’s grating on my nerves.
  • “Get some rest, Miss Daniella.”
  • “How do you expect me to lay down and sleep when my brother is missing and I can’t see! Do you know how I feel?” I screamed at her.
  • “Calm down, Miss Daniella. Getting angry is going to do more harm than good. You should get upset.”
  • I tugged off the material I was feeling on my face around me eyes and pulled out the IV drop attached to my vein, “I’m leaving. I’m going to find my brother and I don’t need your help.”
  • “Miss Daniella!”
  • I attempted to get down from the bed but instead ended up falling to the ground unceremoniously. I crawled despite the pain in my head and every other part of my body.
  • I have to find Rafael before Luciano gets him.
  • I could hear the doctor’s footsteps around the room but I didn’t pay attention to her because my focus was on finding the door and getting out of here.
  • I kept on crawling until my hands touched a pair of leather shoes which connected to a pair of legs, “Who are you?” I asked before I felt the sting of a needle on my neck and everywhere began to spin even though I couldn’t see.
  • The ground was still spinning beneath me as a strong pair of hands carried me up from the floor and back to the bed.
  • I was almost unconscious but I could still hear them talking.
  • “I’m very sorry, sir. She caught me off guard.”
  • “I don’t pay you for you to be caught off guard. This shouldn’t repeat itself again, Lucy.”
  • Who are these people?
