Chapter 258 Firebreak

  • At first Hanna timidly began bulldozing the houses and sheds down with the MM3. However, by the time she reached the second block, Hanna realized that her initial worries were unwarranted. She had expected that someone would protest the destruction of their home, yet not one person stood in their way. Instead, the townsfolk dutifully followed closely behind her Mech, keeping their fire brigade formation.
  • As Hanna bulldozed the structures, she followed Gillian’s directions by pushing the debris across the road and into the yards of the adjacent homes. This was the minimum distance Hanna was able to push the destroyed homes without the process becoming too slow or bogged down by the sheer quantity of materials. It was here that the townsfolk would douse the piles of long rotted wood, flammable plastic siding, and dry rotted furnishings as best as they could.
  • Hanna could not see much going on outside of her Mech cockpit due to the smoke. Gillian’s form ever-so-often would disappear, and on more than one occasion, Hanna had to stop moving for fear of making a wrong move and hurting someone. Though, thanks to Lisa, Hanna was urged to keep moving regardless because the fire was not going to wait on them to finish.
