Chapter 15 The First Night

• “Another toast for Mister and Mrs. Bruce!”
• The hall was filled with waves of laughter and applause. Beatrice tried to be happy but she was feeling nauseous again. She wanted to get out in the front and throw up. But she couldn’t because Mateo was holding her hand. As if she was going to get away from him. How? They just sign the paper that could make her his prisoner for a lifetime.
• “I-I need to go now, Mateo,” Beatrice begged. Mateo put his fingers in between hers and locked their palms. She sighed when she felt that he kissed the back of her palm. “Please.”
