Chapter 9 Betrayal
- The night was eerily silent as Duke and I made our way back to the pack. The moon cast long, twisted shadows across the forest floor, and the only sounds were our labored breaths and the distant howls of the Nightwalkers. Every step we took seemed louder than the last, amplifying the tension that hung in the air.
- "How much further?" I whispered, my voice barely audible above the rustling leaves.
- "Not far," Duke replied, his eyes scanning the darkness. "We need to keep moving."
