Chapter 11 Lair

  • THE PACK gathering had been a brutal display of Waldemar’s dominance and the pack’s simmering resentment. Adler’s glares had been a constant, chilling reminder that her presence here was fiercely contested. Now, back in the quiet luxury of Waldemar’s chambers, the tension of the hall still hummed in Selene’s veins. Waldemar hadn't returned yet, leaving her alone with the suffocating reality of her situation.
  • His growled command, "Don't even think of running," echoed in her ears, a possessive promise. But it only fueled her defiance. Running, truly running, was her only goal. She needed to know this fortress, find its weaknesses, its hidden paths.
  • The estate, vast and sprawling, called to her. If she was to be imprisoned, she would at least understand the dimensions of her cage. The double doors to Waldemar’s chambers were solid, but she knew they opened into a wide corridor. Lyra had mentioned a library, a conservatory, even training grounds visible from some of the upper windows.
