"The photo was photoshopped. After I reconsidered the matter again, I brought samples of Xi Qingchuan's and my hair for another DNA test. Xi Qingchuan and I aren't biologically related at all. But we should be, unless Xi Qingchuan isn't his father's biological son."
Everyone was dumbstruck by my words. They stared at me, flabbergasted. They were speechless as they struggled to understand what I had just told them.
Granny was the first to recover from her shock. She grabbed my hands and said, "Sheng Sheng, I know what you're trying to say. Someone set you up. Some terrible person sent you a photoshopped photo. They wanted you to draw the wrong conclusions from the photo. After that, they doctored your report."
She glared at Xiao Shi as she spoke.
"That's right, Granny. I was an idiot. I checked the authenticity of the photo but it was too late then. I hadn't looked into the photo at first because Zhen Xian had convinced me to run a DNA test. I believed that the test would prove everything. It would reveal the truth to me. So I did the test."
"It's not your fault. No one could've expected that someone had gone to the extent of bribing the staff at the lab," Granny said as she clutched my hands tightly. She smacked the end of her cane into the floor hard. "My grandchild. My grandchild was killed by a heartless murderer."
