Chapter 6 When Gay Loves You

  • Chapter 6
  • When gay loves you
  • Opula had been his nest; how she secured his future by rustling some money mint into his hand. “For your WAEC,” she had told him. Months later, while they cuddled up in bed, Nku opined that he would love to support his vocation as a chef rather than education. It did not go down well with her. She really wanted the best education for him and was ready to see him through that venture. After Opula had waded into him, she willingly unzipped her purse and squeezed another thick wad of money into Nku’s hands to support his career. Whenever Nku cupped his jaw and retraced their love web in Enugu he always applauded her purse for putting daily bread on his table and that of his widowed mother, even when their table was unworthy to carry the nutritious staple. “Oh Opula!” he said to himself, putting his onions smelling hands on his hairy chest. Indeed, Opula was his man; man enough to have bought him considerable first grade Okirika clothes, even his boxers and socks at Ogbete Market, as well as paying for his transportation to Lagos. Within himself he argued uneasily over those pretentious male lawyer folks of hers using their confrontational cliché; ‘I prove it to you’ to snatch away her virginity. “No, she wouldn’t dare, not on her life,” he affirmed, shaking his head like a kid that refused to share his candy.
