• Maya's POV
• "I've never seen you eat so much, madame," Lina's voice cut through me as I raised the spoon filled with rice to my mouth. She stood in front of me across the table, amusement in her eyes. I focused back on the spoon, putting it whole in my mouth, then picking up the remaining grains with my spoon.
• It was evening, and the day after Master was gone. Last night had made all the difference. I slept in my nightgown with the lights on, which I couldn't do if he was around. I also found out they had a beautiful garden in the mansion. Spending my afternoon with a book in my hand, listening to the birds chirp.
