Chapter 5

  • Diya PoV:
  • In the morning, I got up slowly and found bondage changed to my ankle. Is it Shourya who did this? I saw a small table behind my bed with a hot box, flask, water bottle, and medicines. I opened the paper kept on that table.
  • "Hope your ankle pain is cured. I did the dressing to it in the morning. I hope you will walk as I gave a pain killer as per the doctor's suggestion. Get fresh up and have food and medicines.
  • Shourya."
  • I smiled, reading the note. I followed his suggestions. I got ready to go to my office.
  • "Madam, Sir ordered us not to allow you to go anywhere," the constable said.
  • Who the hell is he to order me?
  • "Look, I need to go. Inform this to your sir," I said.
  • But constable gave his mobile to me, asking me to talk to Shourya.
  • "Hello, Shourya, Diya here. I am going to my office," I said.
  • "No, Diya. Take a rest for two days. The doctor advised two days' rest for you. If you can't do that, ask the doctor to tell me otherwise, and I will allow you to go out," Shourya said.
  • "But... "
  • "I don't have much time to talk to you. I am busy. Talk to the doctor and then tell me. Bye."
  • Shourya disconnected the call, and I went back into the room. I felt very bored at home. Stupid, who is he to order me to confine to the room? I heard someone knocking my room door. May be IPS Shourya returned home.
  • "Come in," I said, and the person opened the door.
  • It's Mrs. Avani, Shourya's mother. She is a retired IAS officer. She was a terror in the hearts of people who play with the lives of the public. I admire her a lot. However, she refused to give an interview to me, though I asked many times. I got up from the bed, seeing her.
  • "Namaste, aunty," I said and about to touch her feet for blessings. But aunty stopped me and gave a hug.
  • "No formalities, Diya. My blessings are always with you and Shourya. Until you do good, no one can do anything for you," aunty said.
  • "Diya, Shourya asked me to stay with you until he returns. He told me about the accident and need someone to take care of you. Shourya has a meeting with the Chief Minister and Home Minister along with all IPS officers so that he will be late to home today," aunty said.
  • "Ok," I said.
  • "Sweety, you can call me as a mom," aunty said.
  • I remembered my mom, who expired when I was five years. A lone tear escaped from my eyes, wiped by my aunty, no mom.
  • "I brought food prepared by me. Come, let's have food."
  • I had delicious food prepared by mom. I am habituated to hostel food. For the last two days, here I ate food prepared by Shourya's cook. The food prepared by mom is always special.
  • Mom and I became friends so soon. She was a strict officer but is friendly to me.
  • "Diya, how is your Shourya," mom said, and my expressions changed.
  • My Shourya? Maybe he didn't say to mom that this marriage is a temporary arrangement to save my self-respect in this society. In reality, this marriage has no value.
  • "Is everything alright between you and Shourya?"
  • "Mom, everything is fine between us," I said, averting my gaze from mom.
  • "I know about Shourya. His focus is always on duty and criminals. But Diya, there is another side of Shourya who cares and loves family a lot. He values relationships," mom said, and I looked at her, shocked.
  • There is talk about Shourya that he hates the family and avoids every relationship.
  • "Mom, I heard that Shourya doesn't like family," I said.
  • "Diya, your heart can see the true nature of Shourya. He loves family, and as his mom, I can say that he cares for you as he values this wedding. The only thing is you need to root the seed of love in his heart. I know it's tough, but it is worth it," mom said.
  • I went into deep thoughts. As far as I know, Shourya is a true Police Officer and a kind human being. He has good character and mentality. He respects girls. He has all the qualities which a girl imagines to have in her husband.
  • But can I gain his trust and love? Is it possible to make him accept me as his wife? I don't know, but I want to try.
  • Shourya PoV:
  • Diya called me saying she needs to go out. I refused as the doctor told me that Diya must take rest for atleast two days. I asked mom to stay with her as she won't care for her food and health. Am I caring for her? But why? Yes, it may be because she is a sincere journalist. Really? My heart asked me. Yes, I replied, shoving off my unnecessary thoughts.
  • I closed my eyes to remember the past. Diya, the only one for whom I had a crush in my college days but never dared to confess. She didn't notice me anytime following her. However, it's just a crush, and I forgot it.
  • "Is it just a crush?" said my heart.
  • "I can't say but can't drag her into my life, which puts her life under threat," I said to my heart.
  • Yes, I will not reveal the truth to Diya. I don't want to give any hopes on this relationship to her. I must stop feeling for her because my duty is my priority. I decided not to show my care for her.
  • I went home and walking on the stairs to go to the room. Diya is coming down, and suddenly she slipped off. I caught her. My one hand is around her waist, and another hand held her hand. She starred at me.
  • Beautiful eyes, how can her eyes be so beautiful? I felt to touch her cheeks. Unknowingly my hand over her waist moved to her belly, touching her soft skin. She closed her eyes.
  • "Huh," someone coughed, and I helped Diya to stand.
  • I looked at that direction with irritation, and it's my mom. How could I forget that mom is here? I looked at Diya, who is blushing, and that increased her beauty. No, I should stop thinking this bullshit. I decided to make her come out of this new trance.
  • "Mom, I need a coffee."
  • "Diya, I need to talk to you," I said, showing my finger towards the room.
  • "My dear son, you got married, and now my responsibilities were transferred to your wife. Ask her to bring coffee," mom said, settling on a sofa and reading the newspaper.
  • "I will bring coffee," Diya said.
  • "No need," I said.
  • I called the servant and ordered her to bring coffee. Diya's face became dull. I am sorry, Diya, this relationship is not permanent. I can't forget the incident that happened in the past because of which I cut off all relationships and decided not to accept any relation.
