Chapter 2 Balancing Relationship With Work

  • Casting away his thoughts, he came back from his temporary trance…
  • Remo went to the door and take a look what Julien has in store for him. He took a bath earlier to clean himself after a steamy encounter with Ayesha in the cabin.
  • Hi girlfriend is a local Burmese girl. They have been in a beautiful relationship for over a couple of months now. Ayesha Aung La is 21 years old, young, and pretty.
  • She works as the local secretary of the Japanese company they are currently working. She has a perfect body, stunning face with flawless skin due to her mixed race.
  • The father is a Chinese national and a mother of local Burmese origin mixed with Spanish descent.
  • Her face still looks pretty even without any makeup. With her eyes still closed --- she looked pleased with satisfaction…
  • Ayesha exuded a warm uplifting scent of fragrance like a “perfume of love.” When she is around, her youthful appearance and fine complexion triggers his sexual arousal. An intimate touch from her makes him feel connected in and out the bedroom.
  • “She is every man’s dream girl… pretty and gorgeous although reserved, is very hot in bed!”…..
  • This job is her first to work with an international Japanese Company which was based in the suburbs of Myanmar. The project was donated by the Government of Japan.
  • From her stories with me, I was her first real boyfriend ever since he got a relationship with the opposite sex.
  • “Although I am not sure of that…”
  • But her first experience in bed with me is true, which I found out to be correct.
  • "Who is it?" I queried even though beforehand I knew it was Julien.
  • "Bro it’s me. I wanted to finish the CAD drawings and the technical report for the project.”
  • He replied softly behind the door to avoid any disturbances around.
  • “I do not have the soft copy --- only PDF files. I need to edit the documents for final submission to the overall chief engineer of the project, Takeda San”
  • “Our departure in Laos is two weeks away. We have to submit them for review by the Consultant.”
  • Julien is my junior and a close friend from the construction company. He is younger by two years. We have been working together on this construction project for almost three years now.
  • We both decided last month to relocate in Laos due to the current strictness of military troops in Myanmar. The country is ruled by the junta for many years already known as the State Peace Development Council (SPDC). It gained its independence from the British colonial rule in 1948.
  • Though we came from the same city in Manila, he still lived with his wealthy parents at the eastern part of Makati while I rent an apartment unit in Sampaloc area.
  • I stayed in a housing loan when I pursued my University. We do not have enough money for that. I live in an off-campus dorm room even after my graduation.
  • My educational fees, allowances and lodging were paid through a grant scholarship from the International Fund of Agricultural Development (IFAD). It was given free to students like me who have an excellent grades in their secondary school.
  • “Sure, just a minute, bro.” I put my fingers crossed over my lips for Ayesha to keep quiet.
  • She was awakened by the faint voices as she opened her eyes. I’m always very careful to anyone who might see her inside my room.
  • “Chill bro, take your time. I know Ayesha is inside, hehehe,” Julien let out a light chuckle.
  • “A beautiful pair and a couple match-made in heaven.” he followed himself with full of envy.
  • Actually, Julien hated to interrupt Remo at this hour when he saw Ayesha went past his cabin at seven o’clock this evening. However, he had no other choice left. The report was urgently needed, and they will be leaving the site soon to another structural project at PDR Laos.
  • “Did Ayesha already knew that we will leave the site for our relocation?” Julien questioned himself.
  • The construction has a year left before its completion. But due to the current political and economic liberalization in Myanmar --- with a landslide victory by the NLD during the recent election, the army took control of power in a “coup.”
  • The military quickly reversed the hard-won election toward democratic progress and human rights in the country.
  • It has arrested officials, activists and even journalists who have done away with the most basic civil and political rights, blocked access to social media and intermittently the internet.
  • The Japanese investment project was even affected with the involvement of the military since they have the power to control the allocation of resources. It even influenced the interest of other investment project from neighboring countries from Thailand and China.
  • Remo reached out the door and open slightly enough for him to put his head out.
  • “Bro, please don’t forget our schedule of departure is two weeks away,” Julien greeted with a grin.
  • “Worry not,” he nodded keeping hold of the awkward situation.
  • I took my external drive from the table behind the door and handed it over.
  • “All files for the project in folder REMO…If you need clarification or inquiries, I’m just a text away.“
  • He took a piece of tissue paper as he spoke to wipe his forehead with the dripping water falling from his hair.
  • “Ok bro, big thanks and sorry to interrupt.”
  • Julien put a smile on his face while retreating to his cabin about five meters away.
  • Both their sleeping cabins are isolated above the overall site camp and a few distance from the Japanese expats which was separated below the local camps.
  • Based from the role and position of the overall operations in the project, the senior managers or the so called “chief engineers” were in a superior position to stay in a particular place with the rest of the crew. It has to do with the nature of their work and responsibility within the project.
