Chapter 6 The Williams Family
- Eric's Point of View
- I really don't understand Dad anymore. He's already old but why hasn't he picked the heir yet? Is he waiting for Amelia to suddenly appear like a miracle?
- "What are you thinking about that is making you so angry?" my mom's voice jolted me out of my thoughts.
- "It's nothing mom, I'm just stressed from work" I lied.
- "We both know that's a lie. It's because your father has yet to pick an heir, isn't it?" she asked.
- "You are right mom. I just don't understand Dad. Amelia has been missing for over fifteen years now and I'm next in line to be the heir so what is stopping him from appointing me already?
- Does he have the intention to make Alex the heir instead by any chance?" I asked.
- "That's not possible. You know you are better than Alex in managing the business and you are also the eldest. Let's just exercise more patience, I'm sure we will hear something soon" Mom said.
- "For how long? You of all people know what we had to do just so I can be the rightful heir to the company. I just hope Dad is not having any strange ideas."
- "Guess what brother?" Alex jumped happily inside Eric's room.
- "Just say what you have to say and leave already" I shrugged.
- "Well, Dad is going to be appointing the heir at the next shareholders meeting which will take place in three days" Alex announced.
- "Really? Are you serious? This is not a prank, right? I'm really going to kill you if it's a prank" I warned.
- "You can ask Dad yourself then. You never believe anything I say anyway so just ask him yourself" Alex concluded and left.
- "Mom, you need to confirm it. If Dad is really going to pick an heir, I must behave myself within the next three days and not cause any trouble" I said.
- "Of course son! You must be the heir no matter what" Mom said and left.
- *Three days later*
- The shareholders' meeting is finally holding today and I'm nervous as hell. Most of the shareholders are on my side and I'm the first one.
- I'm supposed to be the heir legally but you never know what's going on in Dad's mind. He never ceases to amaze us all the time.
- "I'm sure you all know why I called you here today. I'm going to be choosing my heir after careful consideration and deliberation" Dad said and paused.
- "As you all know, it is the eldest that always gets chosen as the heir no matter what, unless there is a very serious problem" he said.
- I'm so happy since he already mentioned the eldest being the rightful heir. I'm the eldest without a doubt so I know it's me already. I've been waiting for this day and it's finally time. I can reap the fruit of all my hard work now.
- "The heir to all my companies both home and abroad is Amelia Williams" Dad said and my face fell instantly.
- What is he talking about? It can't possibly be the same Amelia I know, right? The Amelia that has been missing for over 15 years?
- "I know you are all surprised but that's my decision and it seems like the only way to find Amelia right now" Dad concluded.
- How could he do this to me? How could he choose Amelia over me after everything I did for the company?
- This is ridiculous and I'm going to find Amelia first. I will end her myself as I should have fifteen years ago.
- I honestly can't believe this. Everything still feels like a dream to me and I'm sure I'll wake up from this nightmare soon.
- "You need to calm down Eric and let's find a way out of this first. Don't make a rash decision out of anger" my mom said.
- "How can I calm down Mom? How can I calm down?!! I've been working my butt off for so many years now just so Dad can notice me and give the company to me but what? He's giving the company to Amelia who has been missing for over 15 years? Does that make any sense to you?" I asked.
- "You still need to calm down or your hard work will be in vain. The mistake we made fifteen years ago was not killing Amelia. If your father had seen her corpse, he wouldn't be doing this.
- This time, we have to do it without mistake. We must get rid of her and present her corpse to your father. Only then will your father be able to give you his company as the rightful heir" Mom said.
- "But how will we do that Mom? She was taken to the Philippines and it's been over fifteen years now. How will we find her?" I asked frustrated.
- "Just leave it to me and focus on pleasing your father, I will get back to you before you know it" Mom said.
- "What are you guys cooking up now? You can't possibly be thinking of harming Amelia right? If something happens to her now, I hope you know the culprit will be too obvious. You've always lost to her so just accept your fate" Alex said.
- He's my blood brother but he never sides with me when it comes to Amelia. He doesn't know that we sold Amelia because if he did, Dad would have found out already.
- We already noticed that he had feelings for Amelia while he was growing up so we made sure to be careful around him.
- "Do you think I won't know that much if even you know about it? You just like uttering nonsense" I said.
- "I'm glad you know at least. There are so many times that you do things without thinking but I guess today is different. If you want Dad to even look your way for once, find Amelia and bring her to him alive without any scratches on her. If you can't do that, forget about being the heir" Alex concluded.
- I knew it already. He will definitely choose Amelia over his own brother.
- "Is Amelia that important to you that you don't even care about your brother?" Mom snapped at him.
- "I'm saying this because I care about him so much. If something happens to Amelia, Dad will donate his company and property so which one will you prefer?" Alex shrugged and walked out.
- "That bastard! I should teach him a lesson at least once" I said and tried going after him but Mom stopped me.
- "Just let him be! But what if what he said is the truth? If your father really plans to donate his property, we can't lay a finger on Amelia then" Mom said.
- "We still need to find her first. We can think about what to do after we know where she is" I said.
- "Alright, I will start working on it right away. Just leave it to me" Mom said and left.
- I just can't believe Dad. How can he leave his company to a girl instead of leaving it to his son? I will have to prove to him that I’m better than Amelia in so many ways.
- To be continued......
