Chapter 4 Let's Break Up
- Sean's Point of View
- It's been over five years since I divorced Amelia to be with Alice. I thought Alice was more beautiful and classier than Amelia but it looks like I learnt my lesson the hard way.
- *Six Years ago*
- Amelia and I had just gotten married after dating for a year and eight months. I was a playboy in college and many girls were always around me because I was handsome and rich.
- I was planning to ask Alice Fabian out in my second year in college when Amelia suddenly appeared as a transfer student. Alice was very popular and always dressed up like a model in school but Amelia was more beautiful even with just her simple dressing.
- I couldn’t control myself and fell in love with her. I became serious in the relationship but I still couldn’t get rid of my playboy attitude at once. Amelia knew about it but she believed I would change completely one day and agreed to marry me.
- After three months of getting married to her, I met Alice again and this time, I decided to do what I was unable to do in college. Alice didn’t say no to me but she gave me a condition which was to divorce Amelia.
- I thought about it for a whole month before deciding to divorce her. Amelia was always at home because I made her a housewife and she wasn’t seeming as attractive as she was before so I just divorced her and I’ve been with Alice since then.
- *End of flashback*
- Alice could satisfy me sexually and make me raise my head proudly among my peers since she was a top model but she couldn't give me the peace of mind that Amelia gave me.
- Amelia treated me warmly and sincerely. She truly loved me with all her heart and the truth is that she's even more beautiful than Alice but because she was a housewife, she didn't get to dress up like Alice.
- She was always busy trying to keep the house clean and cook for me since I didn't employ any maid. She never complained about how stressful it was to be a housewife and it was later on that I just realized I had lost a rare gem. Why did I have to listen to Alice anyway?
- The ringing of my phone jolted me out of my thoughts and I checked the caller only to discover it was Alice Fabian.
- “Talk about the devil” I mumbled before answering the call.
- “What time are you picking me up? It’s past seven already. Don’t tell me you want to cancel the date again, I really won’t accept it this time” she said.
- “What are you going to do if I cancel it?” I asked.
- “Sean” she called my name in surprise.
- “I will be there to pick you up in a few minutes” I said and ended the call.
- It’s time to end our ill-fated relationship. I can’t see anything that she has contributed into my life ever since we started dating so I’m going to break up with her and look for Amelia instead.
- I know there are probably a few women out there who are as good as Amelia but the problem is, how do I recognize them? It’s not like it’s written on their forehead. I’m just going to find Amelia and make her forgive me. Even if she’s married to someone else already, I won’t back down so easily.
- I got into my car and drove to Alice’s house to pick her up for the date. It’s going to be our last date together so I took her to an expensive restaurant.
- “Wow! What’s the occasion today?” she asked looking around in excitement.
- “I just want to treat you to a nice meal and apologize in advance for what I’m about to do” I said while going through the menu.
- “Apologize for what you want to do? What could that be?” she asked.
- “Let’s just eat first. I will tell you when we are done eating” I said.
- There was silence between us from then until we finished eating and I kind of liked the peace and quietness.
- “You are acting so strange today, you didn’t even say anything while we were eating” she said.
- “It’s good to maintain table manners” I shrugged.
- “Table manners my foot!” she mumbled.
- “Anyway, what did you apologize for earlier on?” she asked.
- “Let’s break up” I said.
- “Break up? Are you joking right now? You said we would be getting married soon” she scoffed.
- “I know I said that but I changed my mind. I realized I shouldn’t have left Amelia from the start so I’m going to find her back” I said.
- “Did you find out already?” she smiled.
- “Find out what?” I asked confusedly.
- “Ahh! I guess you didn’t find out yet. You suddenly got tired of me after dating me for just six years and you think you can get married to a lady and remain faithful to her for the rest of your life?” she asked.
- “That is none of your business. I will try to be the best husband” I said.
- “Alright, you can try. I just want to tell you before you leave though. Amelia won’t accept you back as her boyfriend not to talk of as a husband. A man that cheated once is bound to cheat again, but I wish you good luck though. Even though we are breaking up now, I still dated you for six years while Amelia only got to be with you for two years. I accomplished my mission either way” she said and stood up.
- “What are you talking about? Which mission did you accomplish?” I asked.
- “I guess I can tell you now since it’s over between us. I liked you first before Amelia came to college as a transfer student. Just when I thought you were finally starting to notice me, Amelia came into the picture and ruined everything. I decided right then that I would be the one to end your relationship and I succeeded. Did I not accomplish my mission?” she smiled.
- “You crazy woman! How can you be so cruel to the point of destroying a marriage?” I screamed.
- “And how can you be so gullible to the point of getting used by a woman? Anyway, good luck on your new journey” she concluded and walked away.
- I can’t believe I got used by her. I lost a rare gem all because of my foolishness. I must prove to Alice that she’s wrong and get married to Amelia again no matter what it takes.
- To be continued……
